This swarm took lots of time and effort. The home owner really wanted to try to save the bee. The swarm first moved into the chimney between the flue and the block. So we had the homeowner (who is very comfortable with being on ladders and roofs) place a box near where they had been entering, then we had him start a fire in the stove to heat up the chimney. He did that for 3 nights. Thankfully the bees were not impressed with that home any longer and moved into the bee box. After all that moving though the bees were not happy. We couldn't get the box closed so we could get it off the roof. We were thinking either they were just angry with all the moving or they were queenless. If they were queenless they will never calm down and eventually the hive would die. We gave them a week to try to calm down and went back. Thankfully when we returned the bees had calmed down and we could get the box closed up. The homeowner then got back on the roof and used a rope to lower the box down to the ground. The bees are now safely in our apiary and the homeowner can now get his house all closed up again.

Got notified that there was a swarm on the side of the road, so we jumped in the truck to go check it out. A nice easy on. We put the queen in the box and the rest marched right in.

Got home yesterday from camping and saw one of our hives decided that there was too many and they needed to swarm, so farmer Caleb had to jump into action and gather the large swarm into a box and add it to the apiary. Was looking over our camera footage and saw that they had swarmed only 30 minutes before we got home.

Looks like this year's neighbors would like Farmer Caleb to teach them about beekeeping.

We were down at Mountainside Fruit market enjoying some ice cream when we saw these new bushes and of course had to pick one up to try. Does anyone know anything about or have had a goumi berry before?
