Hydrangeas are popping up in the Farm Stand this weekend! While we planted over 30 little hydrangea bushes last fall, ours will take a couple of years to grow before they’re ready to harvest. I had a local florist come pick up a wholesale order for wedding this weekend thanks to my in-laws sharing some stems from their mature bush. Can you believe the size of these blooms!?! (I can’t wait to see pics!😍) The smaller stand blooms come from another neighbor’s bountiful bush. I’m so grateful for community collaboration! 💐🤍🌸

The stand is open Friday and Saturday, but closed Sunday, so grab these beauties while you can! 😊

Zinnias. Have you ever taken time to notice them? I mean really notice? They are some of my absolute favorite flowers: the layers of petals, the bright vibrant colors. And if you hold a zinnia, you will notice its fuzzy stem. The tiny little hairs on zinnias stems help to trap bacteria, and cause some folks to call zinnias a “dirty flower.” I don’t know if name calling is necessary, but there are a lot of flowers that are considered “dirty” including sunflowers, celosia, and snapdragons. They shed organic material into their water, and this can cause bacterial growth. Bacteria in the water is the enemy of flower longevity. What to do? Give you flowers fresh water daily. And you can also add a drop of bleach into the water to help hold off that bacteria (really just a drop, because too much will kill the flowers too). Have you ever tried this? Do you have other favorite clean-water tricks? I’d love to know! 🌸💧💕

Zinnias are starting to show their faces this week, and there are so many more to come! 🌸🌸🌸 Their multi-layered petals add such a cheerful pop of color!
