Ross Orchards is located in the Clark’s Fork Valley, the “Fruit Basket of Montana.” Starting in 1907, William E. Ross planted and promoted apple orchards while practicing law in the Clark’s Fork Valley. William's son, Jack Ross, picked apples at local orchards and sold them to passengers on trains traveling through Fromberg. In 1945, Jack returned to the Clark’s Fork Valley where he practiced

law from 1945 to 1973. In 1952, he planted a one-acre orchard, which included Wealthies, MacIntosh, and Delicious apples. In 1982, Jack’s son, John Walker Ross and his family, continued the Ross Orchard tradition of practicing law and planting a 300-tree “Ross Orchard.” The new Ross Orchard has 14 varieties of apples, which depending upon the season and weather, ripen from mid-August to late-October.

🍎 First Sale of the Season! 🍎

We’re excited to kick off our season with a flash sale this Sunday, Sept 21, from 1–3 PM (or until sold out). We’ll post on Facebook if we start running low on apples.

Please share this info with others who may be interested:

🙏 This is a small sale with just one family member running it. Thank you in advance for your patience.

📍 Where: Our orchard in Fromberg (parking available in the Catholic Church lot)

🍎 Varieties available: Mainly McIntosh and Spartan - fewer Macs than usual though this year. We’ll also introduce you to a few Liberty and Paula Reds.

💲 Prices & Payment: $35 per basket or $15 per bag. Cash or check only.

📦 If buying baskets, please bring a box that fits over the top of an apple basket to transport your fruit home. Laundry baskets or large cardboard boxes work well!

We hope, but can not be sure, to have a few more sales in the coming weeks. One of our family members is going through a medical issue, so we aren’t able to focus on the harvest as much as in past years. We’ll share updates here. (Sorry, we can’t reply to individual messages.)

Thank you for your continued appreciation for tree-ripened fruit and support of our family orchard—we look forward to seeing you this Sunday! 🌳
