Winter in Maine ❄️

The gardens are asleep, the ground is covered in a snowy blanket and the flock pecks around the icicles and snow looking for tasty sunflower seeds that I spread around. Everything is in low power mode here on the farm including myself. Slow sips of coffee in the morning and taking my time, after being in our busiest time of year. I hope everyone gets a chance to settle in and breathe, maybe a little relaxation time and some fun with family and friends. Happy Holidays all ❄️

It’s that time of year folks! The cooler weather is settling in and the time to plan is now. Thanksgiving is late this year, on the 28th, so pick-up day is the Sunday before. Have questions? Send me an email or call. Happy Monday all πŸ¦ƒ

The sun has set on sunflower season, now we look forward to fair time and pumpkin season! It’s my favorite time of year πŸŽƒπŸπŸ‚ those chilly nights are calling for warm food and cozy blankets. And while the air chills more to come on our biggest time of year, can you guess what that is? πŸͺΆ

All the colors πŸŒ»πŸ’›πŸ§‘β€οΈπŸ©·πŸ€Ž starting to the leaves change colors in the yard! The last round of sunflowers are just blooming and soon we’ll be focusing on our few winter squash plants. The corn and sorghum are looking great, with their tall stalks towering over everything else. I can feel the fall vibes starting to set in πŸ‚πŸ

Gotta love the golden sunsets with the golden faces of our sunflowers 🌻 the nights have been getting cooler and the days shorter. The leaves are beginning to change and I can see the fall season peaking around the corner. The garden is on its way out and I have a lot of work to do but the pumpkins and winter squash are coming in! πŸŽƒ have a great start of the week everyone 🌞

🌻🌻🌻 the sunflowers are open! After a long growing season these sleepy heads have finally opened their eyes. Our bees are very happy with all the blooms and we’re looking forward to even more with the small plot I planted late this season. Along with the sunnies the cosmos and nasturtiums are still chugging along. What a long journey this years garden has been but we’re finally here and enjoying some small harvests. Happy September all!

The gardens are in! 🌱 The first day of June we got 3/4 of the garden planted, between 7 varieties of sunflowers, 3 varieties of corn and a couple different winter squashes, the big plot is full. Also all the raised beds have been in for just over a week and are already germinating. The tomato starts are in and thriving all in their own bed, I probably went a little over board, having got everything from cherry to Roma and medium earliana to a good size slicer. The weather has been ideal with lots of sun and now we’re getting some gentle rain. This is one of my favorite times of year where I get to watch everything slowly start to emerge from the ground! Stay tuned for more updates 🌞
