Even experienced sourdough bakers have “bad” loaves. This one is over fermented, meaning it let it sit too long in the fridge during the cold proofing so it didn’t rise like it should. Still taste the same, just shorter! 🙂

Unfortunately risk is taken when farming… Part of that risk is purchasing animals and hoping they live full term until they go to the locker. Today living full term didn’t happen for one of our calves. This is a hard thing to deal with as a farmer, not only is it a lot of money lost (thousands) but also the work put into caring for them while we have them. It is definitely a hard hit for all farmers to lose livestock, but it hits harder when you’re a smaller farmer.

With all of that being said, we have decided that once this turn is over this fall and these cattle go to the locker, we will no longer be selling cattle. We had 2 losses in the past two years and that is too big of a hit for us.
