🌾 Organic Rouge de Bordeaux Sourdough Pan Loaf

Our baking assistant Mrs K and Ms G recently shared what they love about this beautiful heritage grain, and we couldn’t agree more. Rouge de Bordeaux brings a little history, a lot of character, and plenty of flavor to every loaf.

A beautiful loaf with a little history behind every slice.

Rouge de Bordeaux is a 19th-century heritage wheat that was a favorite of French bakers for generations. A Hard Red Winter Wheat, it’s prized for its rich, nutty and earthy character, with naturally subtle notes of cinnamon and warm baking spice.

Our organic Rouge de Bordeaux grain is sourced from Barton Springs Mill in Austin, Texas, then freshly milled right here in our kitchen before becoming part of our 100% naturally leavened, slow-fermented sourdough.

With an impressive 14.2% protein, this grain produces a beautifully structured loaf with a hearty, flavorful crumb and wonderful depth.

Baked in a pan for easy slicing, it’s equally at home as morning toast, a hearty sandwich, or simply served warm with a generous swipe of good butter.

HOW is September already here?!

The Monsters are back to school, summer flew by, and after one HOT August, we’re rolling into another month of flour-dusted shenanigans.

You’ll find us baking most Wednesdays + at the Fulshear Farmers' Market most Saturdays. Check our monthly calendar on our website/socials so you always know where to find us! 📆

🍎 EASY LUNCHBOX SNACK HACK 🍫🥜

One of the simplest things we keep stocked in our pantry is a big jar of homemade snack mix.

Ours usually has walnuts, almonds, raisins, and dark chocolate, mix it all together, pop it in an airtight jar, and you’re done.

The Monsters each keep a little container right in their lunchbox. It lives there all the time, and they simply refill it from the pantry jar whenever it’s getting low.

And the best part? There are absolutely no rules. 🙌

Use whatever your family loves:

🥜 Nuts, roasted or raw, salted or plain

🌻 Seeds roasted or raw, salted or plain

🍓 Dried fruit

🍫 Chocolate

🥣 Freeze-dried yogurt bits

…or whatever odds and ends you have hanging around the pantry.

Mix. Store. Scoop. Done.

Simple, easy, completely customizable, and something the Monsters have been making their own versions of since they were about three years old. 🥹

🌶️🔥 HATCH CHILE WEEKEND, ONE WEEKEND ONLY! 🔥🌶️

Friends, if you’ve been waiting for Hatch Chile season, THIS is your weekend!

For this Saturday’s Fulshear Farmers' Market ONLY, we’re bringing you:

🌶️ Fire-Roasted Hatch Chile & Cheddar Sourdough
🌶️ Fire-Roasted Hatch Chile & Cheddar Scones

And when we say fire-roasted… we mean it. 🔥 Mrs. R roasts every single Hatch chile herself, then peels and processes them right here in our kitchen before they ever make their way into the dough.

Our Hatch Chile & Cheddar Sourdough starts with our plump, long-fermented sourdough and gets loaded with those gorgeous roasted Hatch chiles plus a combination of British cheddar and extra-sharp American cheddar. Smoky, cheesy, savoury and with just the right little Hatch kick. 🤤

Then there are the SCONES…

Our buttery, tender scone dough gets the same fire-roasted Hatch treatment and plenty of that beautiful cheddar. Flaky, cheesy, smoky and just enough heat to let you know Hatch has entered the building. 🌶️😏

But here’s the important part…

THIS REALLY IS IT FOR THE YEAR.

Severe weather in Hatch, New Mexico has significantly limited this year’s chile season and supply. We were incredibly lucky to get what we did, but we couldn’t even source enough to roast and freeze for another bake later this fall or winter like we normally would.

So once Saturday’s batch is gone… Hatch is gone from Mrs. R’s kitchen until next season. 😭🌶️

If Hatch Chile & Cheddar is one of your favourites, come early and grab an extra for the freezer.

One market. One batch. No encore. 🔥🌶️🍞
