When you’re asked to help provide donations to fuel our football boys during Friday night games, of course we’re bringing the honey! 🐝🍯

We packed up individual pouches of raw honey to give the boys a quick, natural source of energy. Honey is packed with easily digestible carbohydrates, making it a simple way to get some fast fuel during the game. 💪⚡🏈

You never know where a swarm of bees might decide to call home!

When a colony swarms, thousands of bees leave their original hive with their queen in search of a new place to settle. They’re looking for a protected, enclosed space—and sometimes they get pretty creative with their choice!

Looks like this old barrel checked all the boxes.

The summer heat has the girls hanging outside! 🐝☀️

When temperatures climb, honey bees will often gather on the front of the hive in a behavior called bearding. By moving some of the colony outside, they reduce crowding and help regulate the temperature and airflow inside the hive.

With thousands of bees packed into each colony, keeping the hive cool is important, especially when they’re storing honey and raising brood during the hottest part of summer.

Just another example of how well a honey bee colony works together to manage whatever Mother Nature throws their way.

Nothing beats walking through the wildflower patch and seeing our honey bees hard at work. They're busy collecting pollen while the raindrops from this morning's shower still glisten on the poppies, making every bloom stand out just a little more. 😍 It's a reminder that every rain and every flower plays a part in supporting healthy, thriving pollinators. 🐝🦋🌻

Happy World Bee Day from all of us at Hollow Hickory Homestead! 🐝🍯

Today we’re celebrating the tiny workers that do so much for our farms, gardens, food, and way of life. Bees are responsible for pollinating so many of the things we enjoy every day, and without them, the world would look a whole lot different.

We’re thankful every day for our buzzing girls and all the hard work they do out in the hives. So today, take a second to appreciate the bees, plant some flowers, support your local beekeepers, and spread a little sweetness. 💛
