My great uncle Clint Hollomon worked at Good Earth Stock Farm in Montgomery County. Clint was married to Dorothy VanHouten, one of Grandma Olie’s sisters. Clint and Dorothy were great people, they were funny and kind. Neat pictures and letters in this 1957 sale catalog.

Before the NAILE was “The International” which was held in Chicago. My grandpa helped take train carloads of cattle there in the 1930s and 1940s. And must have attended in 1925, a hundred years ago. We just found the 1925 program this fall. Dad went to Chicago with Blue Sky Angus Farms in the 1960s. He recorded some memories in the story below. Too good not to share again.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. ~ Galatians 5:22-26

“What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on men. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil—this is the gift of God. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him.”
~ Ecclesiastes 3:9-14

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~ Matthew 11:28

Thank you to all the bidders and buyers today at the East Central Missouri Angus Association Soring Sale. A special thank you to the Kabel and Boast families. We appreciate your trust in our program! Thanks to Jordan & Rachel Hunter, the East Central Missouri Angus Association board, association members and crew at the stockyards. The hospitality was second to none and the sale ran like a well oiled machine. An all around great event.
