🍠Each sweet potato plant produces roughly 3 to 5 pounds of Sweet Potatoes.
🍠This year we planted 20,000 Sweet Potato Plants!
🍠Meaning our plants could produce anywhere from 60,000 to 100,000 pounds of sweet potatoes
🍠On average, a Thanksgiving serving of sweet potatoes is about ½ pound per person .
🍠In 2024 the population for Sumter County South Carolina was over 104,000 people and Clarendon County was right over 30,000.
🍠If Google was right and the average serving of sweet potatoes at Thanksgiving is 1/2 pound per a person and if we have a successful crop that means we could potentially provide enough sweet potatoes for our community!
When we pull those potatoes from the soil, we’re reminded that farming isn’t just about crops — it’s about community. Every harvest represents families gathered around dinner tables, sharing food that was grown with care, right here at home.
