Thank God for these little girls' parents!

I've been in these little girls' shoes back in the late 1980s and '90s. Unfortunately, my mother died when I was 11, and I didn't receive the affirmation these little girls are receiving from their parents.

Long story short, what their parents are instilling in them took me decades to learn and embrace on my own.

I AM Vietnamese.

I AM African-American.

I AM my mother's first-generation American-born daughter.

We've tried just about everything on the menu at Can't Believe It's Vegan in Westerville since 2021, and this one was good, too!

I highly recommend giving them a try, even if you're not vegan! Their food is also a great option for those who are just beginning their transition to a vegan lifestyle.

Some of our family favorites:

• My favorites: The jackfruit in the Buddha Bowl and the CBIV Ribs!

• Mr. B's favorites: Spicy Sausage Hoagie, Cheesesteak Hoagie, and Crispy NoChick Sandwich.

• Our son's favorite: NoChick Nuggets!

And their soups are AMAZING!

FROM CASTILE SOAP TO AN EVERYDAY SOLUTION

I've shared what Castile soap is and why I chose it as an alternative for my own family.

So what did I do with what I learned?

I turned it into an everyday solution.

My Everyday Liquid Hand & Body Soap starts with Castile soap and is formulated as a ready-to-use cleanser. There's no measuring, diluting or guesswork—just pump and use.

WHY I CHOSE CASTILE SOAP AS AN ALTERNATIVE

In my last Castile soap post, I shared what Castile soap is.

But why did I choose it as an alternative?

For me, it was personal—and practical.

I was diagnosed with sensitive skin 18 years ago, and I had already been reading ingredient labels and becoming more intentional about the products I used for years.

Later, when my daughter and my first grandson came to live with us, they had skin concerns of their own. My grandson was a newborn, so I was especially mindful of what we used on his delicate skin.

I began making a simple Castile soap-based alternative for our household.

And we saw a difference.

It helped with my grandson's skin concerns while giving our family a simple cleansing option we could use in different ways.

At the same time, my husband was off work recovering from his fourth and final major back surgery. Our household needed to save money, and using a versatile Castile soap helped us do that.

As I researched Castile soap, I learned more about its benefits and versatility.

One benefit I especially appreciated was being able to take my own soap with me.

With sensitive skin, I didn't have to rely on whatever soap happened to be available when I was away from home. I could bring something with me and know exactly what I was using on my skin.

That mattered to me.

My ingredient awareness didn't begin with Castile soap. But Castile soap became one of the alternatives that made sense for what our family needed.

It also reinforced questions I had already learned to ask:

What is actually IN the products we're using?

What purpose does each ingredient serve?

Are there simpler alternatives?

That doesn't mean every conventional product is bad, and our family's experience isn't a promise that Castile soap will produce the same results for someone else.

It's about knowing that we have choices—and having enough information to make informed ones.

That journey eventually became part of the foundation of Mrs. B’s Solutions.

It's why ingredient transparency isn't just marketing to me.

It's personal.

A little full-circle moment today!
Our family attended the LifePoint Real Estate Group Fall Client Appreciation Event at The Market at Ziggy’s Place today.

We reconnected with Mallory Watson, our realtor who helped us find our home in 2017 — the home that is now also Mrs. B’s Solutions HQ!

Mallory also connected Mrs. B’s Solutions with the owners of The Market at Ziggy’s Place, and today we got to meet Ziggy herself!

We really enjoyed our experience at the market!

• Relaxed atmosphere without large crowds or lots of city noise
• Our son wasn't overstimulated and was able to enjoy his adventure
• Amish-grown vegetables
• Lots of pumpkins and beautiful mums
• A young local creative selling 3D-printed Halloween décor
• Another teen being employed while learning practical skills

We came home with pumpkins and a beautiful mum of our own!

WHAT IS CASTILE SOAP?

If you’ve used Mrs. B’s Solutions products, you’ve probably seen Castile soap on the ingredient list. But what exactly is it?

Castile soap is a versatile, plant-based soap traditionally made from vegetable oils—and it’s one of the most versatile ingredients I use.

It’s the foundation of several Mrs. B’s Solutions products, including my:

• Natural All-Purpose Cleaner

And these aren’t products I just make for customers. My family actually uses them throughout our own home.
