Were a small farming homestead offering clean homegrown vegetables, pasture raised meats, dairy, homemade goods, and fresh baked sourdough to our local community all while learning and teaching our 5 children to be as self sustainable as possible.

The Bakery is finally 98% finished we just need to finish the trim, decide on a floor, and finish the ceiling in a few places. It was so much easier and more efficient than before. I’m so thankful for my hubby for making this possible and priority at that. I also now have AC while I bake 🙌🏻

One thing I love about homesteading is that there is always something new to learn and something to improve upon. Two years ago I sheered my first sheep with hand sheers this year we tried out electric sheers. It was a little scary and a lot heavier my arm is still tired. We’re still learning and know there are better positions but she was most relaxed this way. Apparently it should only take 3-5 mins per sheep it took us at least 20! I love including the kids in all the things we’re learning because the more skills a person can have the better. Now we can’t wait to learn how to process the wool. Serenity is already trying to crochet with it!

I miss seeing my cows in my backyard everyday but these cute babies are doing so well! They’re still at the old house for now and probably a little while until we get fencing up at the new place. We’re trying to be much more strategic how we place everyone this time so we’re taking our time moving everyone over.

We’ve been running back and fourth from the old property to to the new to let birds in and out and feed every so it’s been our goal to them to the new place asap we were worried because we know there are foxes here but apparently foxes moved in at the old place too once we moved so our flock have been diminished by probably 80% thankfully the big birds survived and a few others but we will be rebuilding our flock here. These guys were so happy to be here with us and swim! # homesteading goose

We have another gutted kitchen a new door to the mudroom and brand new cabinets to go in! It’s hard to design a kitchen I won’t be using so I have a few questions.

Do people still like microwaves over the range? There’s limited space in this kitchen but there will be a place for a microwave cart if those are not desired.

Opening shelving I know it’s trendy but do people actually prefer it?

Then for the sink an apron front farmhouse sink (which we already have) or and drain board sink that will fit better under the double windows?

Counter tops. We’re not doing granite so would you prefer wood butcher block or nice laminate that looks like granite?

Let me know what you think!

Also favorite colors for a kitchen that will go with gray cabinets.

Is anyone in the Gainsboro area missing some goats? These guys were found on Hayfield Road. They’re penned up but one needs medical attention.

A little update on Bethany…

It’s been a little over 4 weeks since her attack. We’ve been doing dressing changes almost daily and I’m happy to report she is almost fully healed! I seriously thought she wasn’t going to make it. No way we’d get it healed before it got infected but it’s healing beautifully. You can see her injury in the last picture. It was about 4-5 inches wide and from the top of her back all the way down to her belly absolutely no skin was left. Now you can barely see the wound. And she has doubled in size!

The Lambs were the first animals to move to our new homestead! I wish I had gotten a video of them unloading it was so funny and made our hearts happy! Can wait to bring the next. Who do you think will be next?!

We’ve spent much of the last week prepping the gardens and planting. We have a lot more planting to do but it’s time switch gears to baking for the weekend. I’ll be doing mother’s day boxes and all at the new house so it should be an adventure.
