Today is world dairy day!

I started my dairy journey a few years ago when I picked up two dairy bottle heifers. Together- we’ve been on our milk journey for over a year. It’s been every single morning and evening- sometimes 3x a day of consistent milking. I could do this routine with my eyes closed and not skip a beat. The three of us are a team- all cohesively working together for one common denominator- MILK.

Milk has nourished our population for hundreds and hundreds of years- longer than you can imagine. It has nourished us far beyond most food groups. I could list all the reasons why milk is so vital to us and why it benefits us to have dairy in our diets daily. From milk to butter- cheese, and cream. Most of us use dairy daily probably without thinking twice about it.

I had an idea of how much work and responsibility this venture would cost me but I also feel like I underestimated the work. This is a 24/7, 365 days, no vacations, permanent hours and doesn’t care if you’re sick, injured, dying (lol) type of job. You get up and you do it any way. I have had to drag myself out of bed with a 104 fever to milk cows when I wanted to just keel over and die 😅 but there was no choice and no one to do it for me and I vowed that I would take on this responsibility. I’ve bundled up at 5am in 9 degree weather, I’ve had to drive out in thunderstorms, hurricanes, milk with no power and get it done when it felt like 120 outside. I have gained so much respect for the dairy industry from big to small- the work and the care are the same. Those commercial dairies who’ve been doing it for generations have made so many sacrifices to provide the world a valuable product and I admire the dedication they have given for all those years.

Dairy farmers truly make the world go round and for the cows… gosh, there isn’t a more productive animal who literally works so hard to give us everything- in my opinion… they are the queens and mine will live every day like the true queens they are!🐄

We might be nearing summer and school might already be out or soon to be…

So why not learn something new this summer?

I’m toying with the idea on teaching a few very intimate workshops in our kitchen on how to make butter, cheese and a few other kitchen staples.

I’m thinking groups of 5 or less- I’ll give a full demonstration, answer questions, indulge in what we’ve made and send you off with the ingredients needed to make it in your own kitchen- plus a workbook as your guide.

Wow! We are completely sold out today!

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our farm- I’m always in awe when I see the empty shelves and empty fridge. Thank you! Thank you! THANK YOU!

I’ll be restocking over the next few days- more ice cream, butter and milk for the retail locations.

More yogurt, skyr and specialty items for farm pickup.

Hi! It’s me- Brittany!

There’s a few new faces here so I wanted to officially say Hi! And introduce myself.

My husband (Chris) and I own and operate Hidden Hill Farm- located off of NW 39th ave in Gainesville. We operate on a small scale of 20 acres -although we are always looking for more 😉

We currently have two dairy cows- Mary and Tulip, two highlands - Tua and Belle, valais sheep, goats, ponies and quite a few chickens!

We mostly offer dairy items and eggs, dabble in produce and when I’m not swimming in milk- I do offer flowers. I own a floral business “La petite fleur” where I do small events and retail sales.

My hobbies are pretty vast- gardening, baking, antiquing and “creating” - I don’t watch much tv or really vacation😅 I’m always on the go with a coffee or Diet Coke- usually heading to a thrift store or perusing tractor supply.

We have a daughter (Lilly) who’s 11 and in the pony era! We have a sweet unicorn - Ellie, who Lilly shows during circuit which keeps us all busy!

If you visit- you’ll probably see all the above- except Ellie who lives at another farm. But, you’ll likely be greeted by Maddy- our LGD who currently looks like a naked lion🤭, Georgie the corgi-my sidekick, maybe even kitty- the barn cat turned house cat -who quickly traded chasing rats for a permanent stay at “ the Hilton”🤭
