Every once in a while, one comes along that manages to be the whole package. ๐Ÿค

โ€œSouthern Salvationโ€ โ€” Deacon โ€” is by Shining C Chrome and out of our perlino dun mare, Boones Snow Wrangler.

From the moment he hit the ground, this c**t has been exactly what we hoped for.

One minute she was peacefully standing in her dirt pile.

The next?

Something apparently emerged from the enchanted forest and chose violence. ๐Ÿ‘€

Because what followed was a series of emergency aerial maneuvers, dramatic leaps, and a full-speed retreat across the kingdom.

Then, just as suddenly as it beganโ€ฆ

the danger was gone.

The dragon was defeated.

The realm was safe.

And Story returned to grazing as though none of us had witnessed the incident. ๐ŸŒฑ

Honestly, I think this filly spends half her day in a pastureโ€ฆ

So I put together photos and videos from Day 1, Day 7, Day 9, and today at Day 13.

Because every time this filly sheds a little more baby fuzz, she appears to become an entirely different color horse.

One day she looks black.

The next day she looks blue roan.

The craziest part is watching all the stages side by side.

She has changed SO much in less than two weeks.

At first Deacon wasnโ€™t quite sure what to think.

I was sitting in the grass.

He was standing safely beside his mom.

It started with Story acting EXTREMELY suspicious and informing me she had โ€œa secret to share.โ€ ๐Ÿ‘€

Naturallyโ€ฆ
this tiny little woodland goblin immediately demanded skritches as payment before giving me access to classified information. ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

Next thing I knowโ€ฆ

Iโ€™m being escorted through approximately 14 miles (or feet ๐Ÿคฃ) of tiny horse trails, low hanging branches, hidden entrances, and what honestly felt like a fairy forest created exclusively by children with no supervision. ๐Ÿ˜…

Inside we discovered:
๐ŸŒฒ Preacher guarding the entrance like a tiny security officer
๐ŸŒฒ a corgi that may or may not be head of security
๐ŸŒฒ at least one tiny white creature living in the shadows
๐ŸŒฒ and several babies behaving like they were the gatekeepers of an ancient kingdom. ๐Ÿ˜‚

At one point Preacher literally tried to enforce a:

policy in the clubhouseโ€ฆ

The funniest part is how different every single horse reacts.

Some are:

A couple weeks ago Pearl managed to cut up her legs. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Thankfully she has stayed completely sound through all of it, and our vet got her wrapped, doctored, and started on antibiotics immediately. ๐Ÿค

Now weโ€™ve officially graduated to PF Wonder Salve and light daily wraps while everything finishes healing up. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

And honestly?

This is the part people donโ€™t think about when they say foals should โ€œdecideโ€ if humans can touch them. ๐Ÿ‘€

Because emergencies happen.

Bandage changes.
Vet care.
Injuries.
Moments where a horse HAS to safely allow humans to help them even when theyโ€™re uncomfortable or scared.

And Pearl is already HUGE. ๐Ÿ˜…

If she had never been taught handling and manners early onโ€ฆ
every single wrap change would likely require sedation.

Nobody wants to repeatedly sedate a baby foal just to provide basic medical care. ๐Ÿค

This is why we teach foals early:
touch, pressure, respect, and trust.

Not to โ€œbreak their spirit.โ€
To keep them SAFE later. ๐Ÿค

Thankfully this sweet girl has handled everything like an absolute champ. ๐Ÿฅน
