🐈‍⬛ So thankful we have help with our bookkeeping!

Every barn needs a good cat, and Squeaky is a very good cat. Someone set her out years ago when she was very young, and she had a litter of kittens under our milk tank. She was terrified of them since she was still pretty much a baby herself, and she didn’t know what to do with them. We tried, but none of them made it. 😔

But Squeaky stayed with us and is a wonderful part of every day. She’s very polite and won’t cross into the milking parlor or mess with any food that we might have out. Her biggest character flaw is killing birds instead of rats. 😅

🌧️ I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy to have to change my clothes because they got so wet. What a blessing yesterday’s rain was!! You could almost hear the land thanking the LORD for it. 💚 🙏

Looks like we all get marked tardy today. 😫

When people ask me if cows are smart, I always say, “Smart enough to know exactly what you want them to do and how to avoid doing it.”

These girls knocked a gate down and apparently partied all night, and the black one wasn’t ready to call it quits. After thirty minutes of chasing her through poison-oak-laden woods, and trying to keep her out of morning rush hour traffic on the road, the whole team Torres finally got her back in her field. What a way to start the day. 😓

🐄 Cows can find amazing ways of getting themselves in trouble. When a beef cow cuts her eyelid wide open, how are you going to fix it??

We are so thankful to have this Arrowquip portable chute! We were able to purchase it last year with help from a grant through Virginia Cooperative Extension and The To***co Commission. Field Iron hooked us up, and we sure are glad to have this equipment!!

I get these texts at least once a week. And then there are the mailings.

I do not want to be greedy; I do not intend to hoard land or anything else. I just believe that farming is a noble purpose for the land.

And I would like to continue to labor for that purpose for as long as it is God’s will.
