🌽 Today’s the day, LORD willing… we will start putting corn in the new silo!

This was a huge undertaking, so huge it was frankly scary; but we have been needing this for so long. The concrete walls and floor of our old silo had deteriorated significantly. The size of the face made it very hard to keep the silage fresh. It had developed some drainage problems that greatly affected the quality of the feed. 🙁

We are so thankful for God’s provision to allow us to finally make this much-needed improvement, and we look forward to better feed for our cows and better conditions for everyone who works in the silo.

Shout out to Nick Cox, Roger and Eli Watson and everyone who helped with site prep, and to Lines by JD for the paving on this job!! They hit it hard and got it done in time for the trucks to start rolling as planned! 💪

🐮 Cow profile: meet Thelma (her twin sister is Louise 😆). Thelma is causing an unusual issue at milking time- she won’t leave the parlor. We have a few cows that do this, but Thelma has taken it to the next level. She also wants to come BACK IN after being milked and stand in the milking stall, thereby holding up progress because we can’t let the next cows in with her standing there. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I knew she was special from birth and she continues to prove it. 😅 Believe it or not, both this little girl AND her sister Louise produce around 100 pounds of milk a day!

🐮 Yesterday was an awesome day at the Carroll County Agricultural Fair! We got to talk about cows and dairy farming to the fifth grade students. I hope they enjoyed it half as much as I did!!

Brought this baby girl along to visit and she got totally spoiled by Zack Goad and Sarah Akers. I’ll never be able to compete 😂

🐄 🌽 We are beyond excited about our NEW SILO going in! The old silo has made it increasingly difficult to make and keep good corn silage to feed our cows all year. Lord willing, this new setup will be much better for them and us!!! 🐄 🌽
