🚨Last Call Seedling Sale🚨

Our summer seedling supply (say that 3 times fast) is coming to a close so everything we have left is $1 each!

Just 2 tomatoes, a few squash, one last lonely melon, and a basil. BUT…lots of peppers!

If dad is a hot sauce lover he probably needs an Aji Amarillo or a Chile de Arbol plant or 5 (they overwinter in the garage!)

Sweet peppers left too. After this weekend they will be gone! It’s not too late to start a garden y’all! 🍅🌶️🫑🍈

It’s a beautiful day and beautiful days make me want to plant aaaaallll the things.

We have a couple more French marigolds today along with some “Autumn Joy” flowering sedum.

And the last few jars of last fall’s jams before we start on some new flavors!

Most of the garden transplants have sold out but there are still some left, especially peppers!

We have garlic scapes!

We pick the emerging flower of the garlic plant so all of the energy goes into making big beautiful bulbs. 🧄 But the leftover scapes are delicious in their own right!

Great as a pesto, in cornbread, or used any way you would use scallions or onions. Or for a simple fun project you can try this quick pickled method, no canning necessary!

Quick Refrigerator Pickled Garlic Scapes

-One bunch of garlic scapes (12-15 stems)
-1/2 cup vinegar (whatever you have, white, apple cider, rice vinegar)
-1/2 cup water
-2 teaspoons salt
-2 teaspoons sugar or honey
-any additional seasonings you like (red pepper flakes, black pepper, etc.)

Coil scapes into a small pint jar.
Combine the rest of the ingredients into a small saucepan and heat until the sugar and salt is dissolved.
Pour over the scapes and let cool for 30 minutes.
Screw on lid and put in the refrigerator.
Will be ready in 24 hours and will keep for 2 weeks.

We have several Yellow Scallop Squash (aka patty pans) transplants left in the stand that you probably need.

A small compact bush-type that produces lots of adorable little tender 2-3” fruit. Your kids may not eat squash but they might eat “flying saucers”…just sayin’… 🛸

You could swing by your little neighborhood farmstand and get some plants that were started from Southern non-GMO open-pollinated seeds. Your dollars support not just a family but your local economy.

We have some big lovely Sun Sugar cherry plants that will grow like crazy and produce lots of crack-resistant golden cherry tomatoes that are candy sweet.

Still some smaller tomato plants left and plenty of peppers, cukes, melons, and squash!

We are open this weekend (and any day that the weather’s good) and still have lots of transplants for the garden!

We are huge fans of peppers and have several hot and sweet to suit your fancy. The one we are most excited to try this season (if you’re a hot head) is Aji Amarillo.

Widely considered the most important pepper in Peruvian cooking it’s a pretty orange pepper said to have a fruity flavor reminiscent of passion fruit and mango with a nice kick around 30-50k Scoville. 🔥

Swing by and pick one up for your garden along with many other varietals we’ll post about in the coming days.
