🌲 The many forests behind Lone Fir Tree Farms and Lone Fir Artisans

Lone Fir Tree Farms isn’t just one place.

Our farm is actually three different parcels of land in northwest Oregon, each with its own landscape and character.

Some areas grow Christmas trees, carefully planted and shaped over many years.

Other areas are timber forest, where trees grow tall and the undergrowth is wild.

And some places are simply forest — quiet, mossy, and full of light filtering through the trees.

These landscapes shaped how I see the world.

If you look closely at my watercolor work, you’ll often see those same greens, textures, and quiet forest moments.

The farm has been growing trees since 1961.

And somehow those trees still find their way into my art today.

🌲 Why my art business is called Lone Fir Artisans

Many people ask about the name behind my art business.

Lone Fir Artisans is named after our family Christmas tree farms in northwest Oregon — Lone Fir Tree Farms.

The farm was started in 1960 by my father and grandfather, long before I ever imagined becoming an artist, in fact long before I was born.

Growing up, the tree farm was part of life — planting seedlings, walking the fields, and watching the trees grow year by year, and the forest change through the life of the trees.

When it came time to name my art business, I struggled to find something that felt right.

A family member finally said, "Why not Lone Fir Artisans?"

And the moment I heard it, I knew that was it.

Because the farm isn't just a place.

It's part of our family's story.

And now it's part of my art too.

🌲 Over the next several months I'll be sharing a little more about the farm that inspired the name.
