It has been a very busy couple of months…. Transitioning several hundred plants from the greenhouse to the garden turned out to be a huge process. We scrapped the expansion rows and reset them to double the capacity of plants, also requiring a reset of the irrigation. In addition, and at the same time, we have been diligently working on our community garden project, which required raised bed repairs, plant reset, and irrigation installation. Many thanks to all of the assistance we have had from students from LCHS!! More to follow as the garden(s) progress!!

Only 5 days until the Sumner County Master Gardener’s plant sale!! These peppers are ready for planting and we have been pinching flowers for weeks to keep them from fruiting.
I included a few photos of the spring garden as well.. Onions, collards, chard, cabbage, kohlrabi, bok choy, lettuce, spinach, broccoli and mustard greens are ready for harvest.

Only 8 days left until the Sumner County Master Gardener’s annual plant sale. Come and meet us and taste any of our amazing hot sauces, including our popular Habanero Mango and Pineapple Ghost varieties! Taste the Hot Pepper Finishing Salt that started it all! We will also be selling many varieties of pepper plants we have grown on our farm, including Ghost, Reaper, Scotch Bonnet, Habanero, Cayenne, and Jalapeño plants and some other hard-to-find varieties. We will be on hand for information on how to grow, preserve and prepare peppers. Can’t wait to meet you!

Latest update; well over half the 4” pots having been bumped up to 6” pots, and 19 days until the Sumner County Master Gardener’s plant sale….. These pepper plants are going to be monsters!! (Bonus shot of the 3 latest Easter cactus blooms thrown in there to enjoy).

Took the photos but missed the post on Day 49…… so here they are. Started the repotting and included a shot of the Clarkson Cactus Easter Flower in full bloom. These blooms last 24-hours if you are lucky, so this shot was a true bonus!

Celebrating another year with a perfect meal; BBQ blistered Jalapeños and Bell Peppers topped over a perfectly marbled Tri-Tip steak… (The wind made lightning the grill nearly impossible so I had to break out the brush torch flame thrower, but it worked). Sautéed additional peppers 🌶️ and onions 🧅, as well as mushrooms as additional sides. Grilled Street Corn and a green salad rounded out the dish, with an amazing homemade Tiramisu for dessert. Although a Port would have gone perfectly with the Tiramisu, the adult beverage was a remarkable Japanese Whiskey 🥃. Cheers to another great year!!

Day 42 photos (taken yesterday). We started the 5th pepper germination cycle and will begin the herbs and several varieties of vegetables in the coming weeks. We will spend several days repotting the first few cycles as they have already outgrown their current pots. Certainly thriving in the greenhouse!!

We start this time of year extremely busy as a plant nursery. We quickly move into the pepper, vegetable, herb, and flower farm, specializing in peppers of many many varieties…. I wanted to share something not so specific to our farm, but part of the beauty of what living in middle Tennessee brings with it. We were incredibly blessed yesterday to have attended a concert in the CMA theater, located at the Country Music Hall of Fame, featuring Lady A. It was an amazing show and we wanted to share a couple of sound clips!

The first few hours of the evening look like an alien occupation of the greenhouse these days…. no AI used here, just the remnants of a nearly full moon and multi-colored broad spectrum grow lights. We are on Day 35, with 4 rounds of germination, roughly 600 plants, and all but a handful of varieties that have germinated. Germination round (5) will start this weekend with a newly learned germination hack that will hopefully nudge the varieties that have yet to take. The (5) Redwoods are continuing to grow like crazy, and we added two new juniper varieties to start working towards their life in the Bonsai realm……
