Hi Friends,
The asparagus is a basket case this year. The frost and more so, the asparagus beetle, have greatly diminished the yield. Yes, the biggest factor in that is climate change. In the last three years I have put in a lot of time and effort into my spring cash crop. Yet this climatic unstability, (very warm fall and winter = lots of bugs) is happening everywhere. Most of the world still depends on local small farmers for their wheat, rice, and corn. Damn those who making life all about maxing profit and their narrow comfort zone.

Hello Friends,
what a week of weather drama. Wednesday the high winds tore up the plastic covering in the small high tunnel. Oh no! Oh Yeah thrusday it was warm and windless day and was able to get another plastic cover over the tunnel. Oh no! Saturday morning to be below 20 degrees. The garlic responding to a warm winter is growing. Oh yeah was able to straw mulch them all today.,

Hey fellow lovers of spring. It is happening. ignore the due date. Fava beans are planted. The combine compost pile now 6 feet high. Red wing black birds. some lettuce seeded in the high tunnel. Spring Cabbage and celery now comfortable in their heated trays. Well still have nasty days but the time of the tundra is over.

Hello everyone,
Sarah Straley has decided to organize and create Earth Remembrance Day. A day in the autumn where we will gather to hold in our hearts the interweavings that tie us all together, our soul mind and body, to this Earth. In particular we will hold up endangered speices and honor those that have recently passed. We see this as creative and participatory event and welcome your ideas and effort. Hi,

This is a follow up to my regular post.

I want to give one of my C.S.A. slots to someone who is willing to work with Amilie at OEFFA in her effort to raise awareness regarding GMO's. I have been very inconsistent with this as farming takes all my time and energy for most of the year. I am looking for someone who feels passionate about this, likes the nitty gritty of organizing.

Another thing I have wanted to do but simply do not have the time and energy for it during the growing season is maintaining a nature spirit garden here at the farm. Flowers and such. This could evolve into to other ventures. Again I am willing to trade one of my CSA slots. Perhaps someone has wanted to do this but hadn't the opportunity or space.

The third thing is an Earth Remembrance day in the fall. Some years back I had organize several. A time and gathering where we would remember species that have recently gone extinct and those that are endangered. I dropped doing this at first due to lack of financial stability then inability to do the leg work again due to farm commitments. Again willing to trade one of my CSA slots.

I am hoping to hook up with individuals that do not have money worries, have time, and are attracted to these proposals and are willing to run with it. There is no way I can match in money or vegetables the time and effort that these proposals require. I am hoping that they will take on a life of their own. I am providing a starting point as well as acknowledging, honoring the time and effort that hopefully these three individuals will have invested.

Peace and Happy Gardening ([email protected] or 614 370 4283. If interested contact me.

Hi Friends,
Out and around the farm today. I sensed the new growing season has begun. I have thought the Chinese were much closer to the actual time of the New Year, (Nature's that is) than our Western tradition. Time to prune, dish out compost, turn piles.
If you're interested in a C.S.A. Scroll down.
