Nose: Caramel, butterscotch, toffee, trailing into chocolate and coffee

Palate: : light oak, leaf to***co, coffee, mild black pepper, light green apple

Finish: long complex warm finish with lingering fig and chocolate

Backstory:

In 1889, Hansford was the county seat of Hansford County. In 1920 the North Texas and Santa Fe Railway built a line from Shattuck, Oklahoma, to its new townsite of Spearman in southeastern Hansford County. By 1929 Spearman had grown to be the county seat and Hansford was on the way to becoming a ghost town. The people in that part of Texas refer to the old townsite as Old Hansford. Howie's extended family is from Spearman and a good number of those relatives are buried at the Old Hansford Cemetery. His Great-great-grand father was the first sheriff of Hansford County, Robert Eli Martin.
