I fish multiple areas and waters including Big Sam Rayburn, Lake Conroe and Galveston Bay to Matagorda. ons. My main focus is introducing anglers to the world of fishing with artificial baits. This can range anywhere from bouncing jig baits on the bottom to walking a topwater bait. My main target species are Redfish and Speckled Trout. I do occasionally go after other species when the time and weather allow. I was introduced to fishing as a young child fishing out of Shirley Creek on Sam Rayburn. It didn't take long for me to realize I was meant to fish. I can remember sitting on the boat dock at night with my Grandmother fishing with worms and catching catfish and perch. I can still smell breakfast cooking in the woods. Bluegill perch with potatoes and unions on the Coleman stove. Around the age of 12 I was introduced to saltwater fishing. It only took one Redfish to get me hooked! Those were the days when you could pull your boat up next to a shrimp boat and get a $10 quart of shrimp (about a quart and a half) and fish all day. Since then, I have had the chance to fish all over the US. My largest Largemouth Bass was 12.86lbs. I caught her in Florida and it was on the next cast after my "One last cast". She was measured, photo'd and released. I caught her in the summer, so no telling what she would weigh full of eggs. One of my goals in life has been to catch a 10lb, 30" Speckled Trout. I have caught 3 at 29" and over 8.5lbs. I have caught and released many many over 8lbs and there are fewer things in life that make you feel better than knowing you tricked a trout like that to bite your line and then watch her swim away. On the Redfish side, it is a great challenge catching big Reds on trout rods. I believe the biggest achievement of this was when I had a fisherman on my boat fishing the jetties. He hooked into a fish that took a good 25 minutes to get him to the boat. We didn't weigh it, but it was over 40 inches and definitely over 35lbs. It took a lot of maneuvering the boat and chasing to get him in, but we did it.
