AC Dillingham welcomed local students into the store this week for an educational behind the scenes tour. During their visit, students learned about the role of each department, how products are received and staged, the importance of proper product rotation, and how the different areas of the store work together each day. Older students also had the opportunity ring up products at the register for a little hands on experience.

The tours are designed to give students a better understanding of grocery retail and the work that goes into keeping the store running. As a bonus, each student received a slushie for participating. Thank you to our AC Dillingham team for creating a fun and educational experience for local students!

Every September, AC stores across Alaska celebrate Customer Appreciation Day, an annual tradition to thank the communities we serve. Our store managers organize games, activities and hourly gift card giveaways, with everything from cake walks and Oreo stacking contests to face painting and hula hoop contests. And of course, there’s never a shortage of AC balloons.

AC also donates the food for the Customer Appreciation Day BBQ, with all proceeds benefiting a local organization or charity.

A lot goes into making the day happen, and our store managers are behind it all. From loading gift cards to planning activities and spending the day on the grill, their hard work makes Customer Appreciation Day possible, and we’d like to thank them for everything they do.

Customer Appreciation Day is a chance to bring neighbors together, give kids a place to play and create fun memories for families across Alaska. Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us in 2026!

Alaska Commercial Company has broken ground on a new grocery store in Hoonah, Alaska! Developed in partnership with the Hoonah Indian Association, this 4,800 square-foot store will bring reliable, year-round access to fresh produce, meat, and household essentials to the community, with an opening planned for early 2027.

Designed with input from hundreds of Hoonah residents surveyed in 2025, the store will offer grab-and-go meals, dry groceries, fresh meat, produce, and club pack items. This marks ACC's 39th store, and the company is committed to hiring locally, building community partnerships, and creating a space in the heart of downtown Hoonah for gatherings, events, and celebrations.

Say hello to Randy! Originally from Chuathbaluk, Alaska, Randy has been a member of the AC team for the past two years and currently works as a General Merchandise Supervisor in Bethel. Known for being reliable, self-motivated and hardworking, Randy is committed to providing excellent customer service. His favorite part about working at AC is the opportunity to support the local community.

Outside of work, Randy enjoys spending time with his family and his three children. He also enjoys a subsistence lifestyle that includes fishing, boating, gathering, and preserving food for the long winter months. Thank you, Randy, for everything you do for the store and the community.

AC Point Hope hosted the annual Coffee with a Cop to thank the North Slope Borough Police Department for the work they do in the community. Customers stopped by to enjoy a delicious dirt cake made by Officer Donovan Chappell and AC provided coffee, muffins and turnovers. Thank you to all our local responders in Alaska.

AC Lakeside supports the Sitka Cancer Survivors Society each year by hosting BBQs and providing a space for fundraising within the store. The other weekend, the store had a celebration in the parking lot with a live DJ and roasted Hatch green chiles for their famous smash burgers. The store donated the food and together with the community AC Lakeside raised $2,140 to benefit the Sitka Cancer Survivors Society.

Thank you to the community of Sitka for coming out to celebrate and for supporting a great cause.
