Growing Ginger – Year 3 🫚

Ginger is started like potatoes. We cut seed ginger into pieces, and each little “eye” pushes up a new shoot.

We give it a head start indoors for a few weeks before moving the starts out to the high tunnel.

By early fall, it’ll be ready for harvest and making its way into dishes at Peirce Dining Hall. From our farm to our student's plates.

Starting Seeds at the Kenyon Farm
March 29th, 2:00 PM

Spring is a great time to start growing the foods that will fill summer gardens. Join us at Kenyon Farm to learn the basics of starting seeds indoors. We’ll talk about what seeds need to sprout, how to care for young plants, and which crops are easiest to grow at home. Participants will plant seeds such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and squash and take their starts home to grow.

Meet at the Kenyon Farm.
