On some trees there may be literally hundreds of cones that should be removed . Not one of my favorite chores !

As the winter progressed there was no let up in the cold . That made it very difficult for deer . With a substantial snowfall and cold they used up much of there stored fat just to survive . Now with warming temperatures they are moving more and starting to break into the tree farm to eat my trees . It’s a real battle fixing fences as when I fix one area they find a way to get in somewhere else . This work of fixing fences usually goes on until April . The key to it is to stay ahead of the game so the damage is limited . I expect damage to be bad this year due to all the cold weather this year . Mild winters tend to have less deer damage . It’s all part of tree farming but just one of the worst parts of it .

Thank you to everyone who came to the farm this season to get their tree . So many of you have been coming for many years now . I remember some families when they came with small children and now they’ve grown and home from college ! Hope your holidays are great and a time to cherish being with your families ! Opening weekend was very busy with grandkids nieces family friends and all the people I’ve gotten to know buying their trees or just visiting for a few moments before their Christmas holiday . I’m a very lucky person having this in my life . Thankyou all for being here !
