The roadside stand is officially open for the season. Eggs are currently $6 a dozen.

We got a message the other night just before dark about 4 chickens roosting in a tree in a front yard. We took 2 ameracauna and 2 buff orphingtons. I was told one looked "a bit beat up." The other 3 are healthy if a little thin.

I looks as though she survived an attack with a large wound in her skin, a small puncture in her thigh, and a few small cuts on one foot. She won't open one of her eyes but there is not visible damage.

I'm currently seeking advice on how best to treat her. She is currently in the chicken hospital (dog crate) here inside the house.
