Vitalio is a 2013 AQHA bay stallion, by Desirio (SI 116) and out of Special Sign (Vital Sign x Bugs Alive In 75). He is a rodeo winning, 1D barrel horse that is also used for ranch work.

Moving cattle today was a lot less fun! It’s cold. It’s windy. But everyone is where they need to be before the extreme cold and snow arrive.

We have one mare due this month, and even though she isn’t showing any signs of foaling, she came home from the pasture. With maidens, you never know what they’ll do, so you just plan to expect the unexpected!

Only got this picture today, I was too cold to take my gloves off!

We got one set of cattle moved to their new pasture today. Glad to be able to get these jobs done when the weather is nice! Bay is always my pick when it comes to cattle work, he has definitely earned his keep over the years.

He’s one of the good ones. You know, the horse you can pull out of the pasture or pen and go do just about any job. His titles have included ranch horse, rope horse, pick-up horse, hazing horse, barrel horse, and kid horse. He’s my pick if there’s work to be done outside. And if that corriente cow won’t respect the fence, he’s the one that gets to load her up so she can go home (or to the sale barn!). He’ll likely never win any “real” awards, but he’s a champion in our world. Here’s to the work horse that earns his keep, and long ago earned a place in our hearts.

Vitalio’s books are officially open for the 2022 breeding season! Early booking special of $850 for mares booked by 12/31/21.

We will be offering frozen semen this year, which will again be managed by Switzer/Hill horses at their new location in Weatherford, TX. Shipping will remain at $300, no chute fee.
