I've had a really hard time keeping up with social media due to being spread thin. I foster during kitten season, and had some personal struggles that had me a little less attentive to many things.

My flock paid heavily for that. One by one I lost my girls to dogs and foxes. 2 of my buff orpingtons, grumpy butt and hencules. 4 jersey giants that were just growing into their personalities and didn't have names yet. My cream legbar Xena, my calico princess birdzilla, and most recently Mitts my buff brahma.

Each one meant so much to me. Each time I try harder to keep them in, and the predators out. Each time I feel like I fail them. There's a benifit/risk to both keeping them in a run, and allowing them to free range. I'm still working out a middle ground with birds that aren't fond of being contained.

I can't give up on my flock. I can't see myself without them now. So we keep going even when it's painful.

These girls wanted babies so we have 3 new moms here. Gabby the cream legbar. Soot the silkie, and boots the buff brahma. A little balance of the good and the bad.

This part, and so many more chicken moments make it all worth it.

I haven't been posting much because luck has not been on our side. Between dogs, and foxes I've had some heavy losses here.

My boy marshmallow here has hurt his leg stressing over all his girls, so he's on light duty until he gets better. First time I've had a chicken in my bed. 🤣 he's too special to not pamper though. We bonded day 1 and I'm not sure I could take losing him at this point. So he's getting full baby treatment.

I hope you're all surviving summer much better than us. ❤️💕

Maybe some day I'll be confident enough to do and say more. But for now I hope that you all continue to enjoy our silly little pics and videos.
