The Democratic National Convention wrapped up this week and regardless of what side of the political isle you position yourself, the nomination of Kamal Harris, as woman of color and a child of workin-class immigrants, is inarguably an historic moment for the United States of America.
With that in mind, I am sharing a story I gathered last summer on a trip to San Fransisco. It is a story about immigration, a young man alone in a strange new world, the sacrifices made by his family, and the wise and selfless woman who set him on the right path, at last.
Sri who fled from Sri Lanka in 1987, near the beginning of a gruesome civil war which would last for over twenty-five years. This story about the people who changed the trajectory of his life.
