One of Oregon Seaweed’s owners has posted an offensive message on social media that negatively portrayed Portland. While one person’s perspective should not reflect on the many others in the company, in this moment we understand how important an owner’s words and actions can be... leadership’s words and actions can reflect poorly on the company and its people.

For this reason I find it essential to state that I am also an owner of the company and I can confidently say that we do not agree with the sentiment or judgment of the post.

Oregon Seaweed is proud to call Portland home. Ours is a grand community of people, unique, and stronger together. We must identify and address our problems thoughtfully and humanely. Oregon Seaweed will continue to run its business as it always has, motivated first and foremost to bring a tasty and healthy, low carbon food to market, while ensuring that we offer our team the best possible employment and bring new economic development opportunities to Oregon communities.

Want a chance to visit our dulse farm in abandon, OR? In partnership with the - Eat Like an Otter will be a day all about sea otters! Once wiped out from Oregon waters, sea otters are a keystone species that help kelp thrive! Without them, we have a big imbalance in our marine ecosystems.

Join for a unique day of coastal foraging, a behind-the-scenes tour of a sea urchin & seaweed farm at the Port of Bandon, and a live cooking demo with fresh shellfish and seaweed bites. Along the way, you’ll learn about sea otters, their importance, disappearance and the efforts to bring them back.

We hope this day brings you closer to the ocean’s bounty and the coastal species that call it home!

We could live off local seafare bento boxes forever, truly. These specific Bento Boxes included Inari filled with shiitake, hijiki, edamame, Kombu pickled purple cabbage, tataki with yuzu kosho, 8 minute egg topped with kewpie and dulse furikake, Nori and miso roasted kabocha squash, as well as a Wakame, dulse and Dungeness crab salad with honey miso vinaigrette

Jane started Ippai as a way to share my love for Japanese home cooking and work with local farmers to showcase all the bounty of the Pacific Northwest. She creates pop-up dinners in the tradition of Japanese Kaiseki—multi-course meals that highlighted the best of what each season has to offer throughout.

Seaweed farm tours with are coming up again for the summer season, June 26 & July 27!! With seaweed aquaculture being a relatively new industry on the west coast, we believe the more people can get out and see these operations and learn from experts in the field, the more they will jump on board! Come learn about all the amazing ways that seaweed aquaculture can help our growing populations, as well as the many amazing ways to utilize seaweed at home and in restaurant menus.

We can't wait to host many of you at our shoreside farm so soon!!

It’s almost @ season and that means fresh albacore and seaweed creations! Chef Andre of demonstrated a very simple recipe for dulse chimichurri that worked sooo well with fresh, raw albacore.

Save this post for the summery recipe!

Ingredients:
🐟 1 cup dulse seaweed, finely chopped
🐟 1 small shallot, finely minced
🐟 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
🐟 4 tbsp red wine vinegar
🐟 1/2 tbsp fish sauce
🐟 ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
🐟 ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)
🐟 Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions:
🌀 In a small bowl, combine the minced shallot and garlic with the red wine vinegar.
🌀 Add the finely chopped dulse seaweed, fish sauce, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir to combine.
🌀 Slowly drizzle in the olive oil.
🌀 Season with freshly ground black pepper to taste.
🌀 Let the chimichurri sit for at least 10–15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
