Homesteads for Hope

Homesteads for Hope Homesteads for Hope was founded in 2013 by a Mother and Daughter team raising a young adult with autism.

Homesteads for Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community farm nestled on 55 acres along the historic Erie Canal in Rochester, NY, where people of all abilities find purpose, belonging, and growth through hands-on experiences in nature. Today, we are the first intentional agricultural style community. Our stakeholders continue to seek and work towards a sustainable approach to learning, working, livi

ng and growing in Western NY. This unique community farm encompasses 55 acres on the beautiful wide water inlet of the Erie Canal. This space offers something for everyone and we encourage all to take part in the evolution. The Farm strives at cultivating effortless inclusion, while fostering independence, promoting individualized skills training, socialization, self-awareness and career exploration on our organically practiced farm. For the future, we continue to craft collaborative partnerships to create the full vision of a sustainable and inclusive agritourism venue. With gracious community support, we are developing enterprises on the farm, including our 2019 Farm Store, a 2020 CSA Food Share and is currently fundraising for a Café & Bakery on the Farm. From Garden to Canvas!

Friday’s creative adventure started in the garden, where participants foraged for colorful flowers and nature bits to turn into something a little more permanent.

After a quick spin in the microwave to dry our blooms (yes, the microwave!), the flowers became art supplies. Participants used the dried flowers to make colorful marks on their canvases, then added the flowers themselves to create one-of-a-kind mixed-media masterpieces.

A little foraging, a little experimenting, a little paint, and A LOT of creativity.

Last night’s Thursdays at the Farm came with approximately 98% humidity, 100% stickiness, and sweat that was somehow sweating. 😂

The humidity really said, “Oh, you wanted to enjoy the outdoors?”

And still, you showed up.

A great crowd came out to enjoy the farm, live music from The Conte Project, vendors, pony rides, the farm market, and a farm tasting featuring a treasured family recipe shared by board member Tony Pisa.

The weather may have been doing the absolute most, but the community showed up anyway. And honestly? That’s pretty great.

Now, on to NEXT THURSDAY…

🎉 INCLUSION FAIR! 🎉

After getting rained out by wildfire smoke back in July, Inclusion Fair is finally happening! More than 30 local businesses, organizations, and vendors are joining us for an evening celebrating inclusion and connection.

Plus:
💃 A performance from Ashford Dance Company
🎶 A special appearance by The Brave Notes, the band from Bridges For Brain Injury
🌱 And plenty of opportunities to meet some awesome local organizations

The event page has been updated with the latest additions, so check it out and come see what’s happening next Thursday at the farm!

We survived the humidity. Now let’s see what next Thursday has in store. 😎

You asked for it- every Thursday we will share all the goodies that will be at the market for sale during our Thursdays at the Farm events. Market table is found in the barn, open from 5PM-7PM, and filled with all your familiar farm faces.

What makes Homesteads different? Our produce isn't rushed through machines or grown for maximum profit. It's grown with purpose. Every harvest is planted, weeded, picked, washed, and shared alongside students, volunteers, and staff who are learning, teaching, and building something bigger than a farm.

When you shop with us, you're supporting fresh, organically grown produce and a mission that grows people, too.

As always - while supplies last. When we sell out, we are out for the night!
