We are not people who have never failed, but people who never quit.

Great words of advice:

One of my all-time favorite pics, "The Savage" and the story behind it. Horse on the left was in the lead, the horse on the right was closing in the gap and starting to pass. Instead of the horse on the left putting forth more effort into gaining and keeping the lead, he reaches over and bites the horse on the right. Meanwhile, the horse on the right has his ears laid back and his eye on the prize. Moral of the story... Never entertain foolishness. Have a purpose in life, stay focused and never let others bring you down. Winners are not people who never fail, but rather people who never quit. There‘s an old saying: a champion is someone who is willing to be uncomfortable & rock bottom has built more champions than privilege has. It's about hard work and the drive to do it. Determination to keep pushing forward when others would love to see you fail. Winning isn't the score on the board, it's seeing something through to the end and congratulating your opponent. If you win through bad sportsmanship there is no real victory.

Favorite quote: "It’s not about how hard you can hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward."- Rocky Balboa

FYI: The horse on the right won.

**CAVALLETTI WITH 4 POLES**

I know that dreaded feeling of pulling out loads of poles only to ride for 30 mins to have to drag them all back away again!!

So I have created my favourite Top 8 exercises to work on and ONLY 4 POLES are required!!!! Nice and quick and easy! Work on 1 exercise per week- meaning you have 8 weeks of different layouts!!

They can all be raised or on the ground but I would recommend starting in walk until you and your horse get the hang of the layout then progressing to trot. Another way to increase difficulty is to do a transition before and after the poles.

Most of the layouts I space out from the centre of the poles with 4-5 feet in between although you can space them out further to start with so you get 2 strides in between each pole until you build your horses strength and stamina.

One of the best pieces of advice I have been given was by Ferdi Eilberg and he told me to always try to make a plan of what you want to achieve in your riding session before you start. That way it gives you something to focus on rather than trotting around the arena aimlessly. It may even be something as simple as working on your horses rhythm or working on your trot/walk/trot transitions. As soon as you have achieved some progress in the right direction praise your horse , stretch and finish. In Germany they say to always stop something when it is at it's most beautiful. And they obviously are doing something right when it comes to horses!

No blanket stays waterproof forever. After it's been well used for a few years, the waterproofing will wear off. You'll know it's time to re-waterproof when you notice wetness along the midline of the horse's back and croup.

Keys to an effective horse training session. I’ve trained a lot of horses. After nailing up my sign as a “professional horse trainer” several decades ago, I learned quickly that overhead is high in the horse business so you’d better make some hay if you’re going to pay your bills. Conseque...

Now that I call myself an “investigative reporter” on all things horsey and of minimal importance, and since Christmas is upon us, I thought I’d take a deeper look into the song, Jingle Bells. We’ve been duped The wool has been pulled over our eyes since 1945 when Bing Crosby and the Andrew ...
