The Technology Farm

The Technology Farm The Park opened in 2005, and has since expanded. The mission of the park is to provide a campus for research and development in food and agriculture.

Sitting in the middle of a 72 acre apple orchard, The Park opened in 2005 with one lab, 4 offices, an administration suite and 3 tenants. In the summer of 2006 we began developing the inside of the building adding to the existing facilities, 13 more offices , another lab and 4 production facilities. The entire campus is a Certified Business Incubator and is shovel ready for new buildings. At this

time, the main building of the park, the Flex Tech Building is full and ready to expand. The mission of the park is to provide a campus for research and development in the areas of food and agriculture. Our flexible policies regarding the development and ownership of intellectual property make The Technology Farm exceptionally business-friendly, and give your business a unique competitive advantage. The Flex Tech Building is but one of what we hope will be many on this campus. The Finger Lakes Community College Viticulture Building is currently being built on the Tech Farm campus and is starting to take shape quickly. There is room for private development as well as another Park building. With all the creative minds and enthusiastic people in this wonderful Finger Lakes Region, we hope to be home to many more emerging businesses in the future. Some of our least favorite comments are, “We didn’t know you existed” and “We don’t know what you do there.” On March 11, 2010, we held our first open house to show the community what we do here. The open house has since become an annual event. The doors to the building are open weekdays from 8am-5pm, so if you are curious about what we do here, please stop by.

For our friends in the Southern Tier, here's a nice little story about Cloud 9 Wellness. One of the owners, Elizabeth Russell was our Associates Program Speakers last June where she talked about her career change and the challenges of starting a new business. If you're in the Corning area, you should definitely stop by their shop!

Here at the Tech Farm we've got cherry juice, squash seed oils, and grapeseed oils...grape pies could fit in there somewhere. What do you think?

Agriculture in the Finger Lakes is big business. Farms and the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University contribute its share to the economy in the region as well as providing education and food research for the US.

As you tour through our region you are in one of he most diversified agricultural areas of New York. Most of the farms are family owned and range from part-time farmers to large farms with millions of dollars invested. Our farms produce a variety flavorful and juicy grapes, apples, cherries, raspberries, strawberries and blueberries depending on the season.

The Technology Farm, which is right around the corner of the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station, is situated on an old apple orchard boosts the local agriculture industry by taking some of these fruits and making them into new and exciting and products like cheribundi's tart cherry juice.

Last week, Wine Enthusiast named the Finger Lakes one of the world's Top 10 Wine Destinations, and the current edition of Wine Spectator also features a nice article by James Molesworth which focuses on Riesling. One of the wineries he cited was Silver Thread Vineyard, which is owned by one of our tenants! Who knew, right?!
