Well. Things escalated quickly today...not in our favor 🥴🫠🤦 Here's the deal...and if you came to Art or Chess club today, please read so I can apologize 😩🤦

First and foremost, we will be CLOSED tomorrow (Thursday) June 4. I am currently in the hospital, 30 weeks pregnant with suspected kidney stones so...I'm not allowed to leave at the moment. Not at all what we want to do (believe me 😭) but with all four kids home on summer break, and us not yet knowing for sure what's going on with me it's just going to be too hard for us to open the bakery. I apologize for any inconvenience....I know a lot of you stop by towards the end of the week for bread so we hate to do this.

Now the bigger apology is for those who so wonderfully made our two kids SO happy by signing up and attending art club and chess club today. Nora and Owen were SO thrilled to have so many people join! I couldn't believe how many kids they had! I felt pretty awful this morning, but figured it was just pregnancy and I could push through be there for them for their first "club meeting" and to help things go smoothly. As things got progressively worse during the day, I called a nurse for advice and she said to head to the hospital. When I said "how about in two hours?" she wasn't too pleased so (and she was right cause two hours later I was feeling extra horrible🫠)...I ended up needing to scoot out of the bakery RIGHT before art club started. Leaving my husband with all four of our kids, and a new art club adventure to figure out. I'm sad I missed seeing them put all of their work out there, and I'm feeling terrible that it probably cause things to be...um...a bit chaotic for everyone who attended. I'm so sorry, and I really hope it went okay and hope your kids still had a good time. If there's anything any of you need us to do to fix anything about that situation, please reach out.

The good news is, baby is doing just fine and we'll be alright! For now, I'm exhausted so I'm going to relax and try to get this fixed so we can be up and running as usual as soon as possible. We will update here as needed, if we need to close for more than just tomorrow. Thank you for understanding.

Need something for the kids to do?? Art Club and Chess Club start this Wednesday!!

We'll start the afternoon with some fun little art projects, led by our daughter Nora! She is SO excited to put this together, and is using it as a way to raise money to buy arts and crafts for kids at Lazarus House.

After that, join us for chess club led by our son Owen! He's looking forward to meeting some new friends who like to play chess (and other board games!) just like him. He's no problem, but he's happy to teach anyone who doesn't know how to play! Owen is also creating some of his own chess sets to raise money for Anderson Humane animal shelter. He will have these available for sale during his chess club on Wednesday!

Sorry guys, but we're taking off a bit early tomorrow!! Just like last season, the Kane County Cougars have partnered with us! We get to bake the sweets for their suites 🤩😉 We'll be heading to a game tomorrow to peek at our desserts as they roll by (and hang out with friends and family, of course!).

Thank you so much, to everyone who voted for us once again and everyone who continues to support us in ways both big and small!

I was honestly so surprised to receive this award again this year, as the past few months have been a little wild over here and I just keep imagining everyone quietly forgetting about our little bakery as we went through the slower wintery months and into a fifth pregnancy for me which has slowed me way down at the bakery. With a new house for our family (and puppy 😂) thrown into the mix, I've had a lot going on aside from the bakery and I haven't been getting to as many "bakery plans" as I've wanted. There's so much I still want to do there to keep slowly improving our space...little things like decorations/mini remodeling projects; new menu items like chicken salad croissants 🤤...and we'll get there slowly. But in the meantime, knowing people are still enjoying our breads and pastries and everything enough to name us one of the best again, means so much!

Thanks for keeping us going and sticking with us for our first two years. The support from all of you is so greatly appreciated by us.

Nora and Owen are SO excited to officially invite you to check out their summer clubs at the bakery!! Sign up for one week, or join us for all four!

Nora will be planning some fun art projects, aimed at 3rd grade age and younger. She will be using any profits made to purchase art supplies for children at Lazarus House.

Owen will be organizing the chess club! He'd like to invite anyone elementary aged to join in. Owen is more than happy to teach any new players how to play! The final week in June, he will organize a small tournament if enough kids are interested.

They're so excited, and already working on the finer details...we hope you can make it!

If you have survived the month of May with children....you understand why I've put social media on the back burner for a minute 🤣🥴 I think we had about 9624 events for this kids this week alone 🫠😆 So here's my quick, messy, update to keep you posted on what's to come over the next couple of months!

We're fully stocked on tons of different breads this morning, pastries, and treats so stop by and say hi!
