Second batch of 25 broiler chickens are growing nicely in the brooder and will be ready to move out to pasture in another week and a half.

Slight scare this morning as the sheep escaped their stall (somehow making it over the 4ft Dutch door). They started out in the horse paddock, went through the electric fence into the cow pasture. Chased the cows all the way around the pasture as they tried to befriend the cows, who wanted nothing to do with them. Got them back into the horse paddock and they went through the fence on the other side. Finally, we corraled them in the cow barn with all the doors shut. Cindy lasso'd the first one and I wrestled it to the ground and got a halter on him. While holding him down, I grabbed the second by its neck and held on until Cindy could get a halter on her. We led them dragging and jumping back to the horse barn and built their coral in the front yard, where they seem content to eat grass and lay around. Well, we knew they would be a learning experience...just not all at once the first morning. LOL.

The farm's new katahdin/dorper lambs arrived this morning. They will be a learning experience for Farmher Cindy Davisson Burgett and Farmer Mike to see if sheep are an enterprise we want to bring to the farm. We will give them a little time to acclimate and then get them out on grass. They should be finished around September or October. Personal Chef Lisa Pucci Delgado let us know if you are interested in one of them.

What else is going on around the farm during hay season? Farmher Cindy Davisson Burgett has planted over 50 🍅 plants of various varieties at least 4 types of peppers and a bunch of strawberry plants we got from Stephanie Berry over at Tombstone View Farm. Hopefully, she can get some more planting done before the rain arrives Saturday. Farmer Mike has been filling hay orders for customer pickup and delivery. So far we have put up over 1,300 bales with a guess of another 2,000 to go.

Hibachi dinners
I introduced this a few weeks back and just like the powerballs these will stay on the menu they're so so popular but you do get a ton of food just like you do in the hibachi bar
The steak hibachi along with chicken always starts with farm fresh meat
Marinated and then wok seared.
It comes with either vegetarian or chicken egg rolls
Stir-fried mixed vegetables
Homemade fried rice (and a lot of it)
Yum yum sauce, hibachi sauce and of course homemade sweet and sour.

At 20 bucks per person
Man I think at this point I'm being ripped off 🤣
