It’s been a busy summer at the farm! After starting hundreds of seeds in the greenhouse, we transferred the strongest starts into bigger pots before moving into the high tunnel in June.

The results have been amazing, and we are harvesting and enjoying fresh potatoes, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, peppers and strawberries,
green beans, and peas. Asparagus is looking beautful.

Also have turmeric and ginger in the ground.

Next up: more starts from the greenhouse, including broccoli, heirloom tomato; another planting of potatoes and onions; and then many herbs and other medicinal plants will be introduced.

Life is good!

What a joy to see the beauty of this season! It sure has been a busy Spring so far. Flowers and shrubs are blooming; strawberries, blueberries and raspberries are getting plump and ripening; elderberry is flowering, new aroni and goji berry are growing, and milkweed is popping up. We’ve planted 16 new trees (5 apple, 3 cherry, 2 pecan, 4 flowering dogwood, and 2 ginkgo) and now we’re really busy filling our new high tunnel. Loving life on the farm!

It’s 2025! The days of 2024 passed by so quickly.

At the farm, we continue down the path to bring this land to full conservation. Our changing planet and weather always presents extra challenges. Eventually, another layer peels back and allows more true beauty to emerge.

As we move closer to our goal of sustainability, we have added more resources. Sunrise to sunset, our energy is poured into making the most of each day.

Sometimes the path is wide and even, sometimes it becomes narrow and winding. But no matter what’s around the next bend on this path, we are grateful for all the lessons learned and people we have met.

We look forward to being challenged, learning, teaching, sharing and embracing each day in this new year!

7 years ago, we planted this Tulip Poplar as a tiny bare root. Today, it stands over 20’ tall, with an even wider canopy of beautiful leaves and blooms. The bench underneath calls you to sit down with a book! Since then, we’ve planted more than 80 tree saplings, including more tulip poplars, red buds, dogwoods, weeping willows , royal red maple, silver maples, red oak, pin oak, willow oak, button bush, birch, fringe tree, southern pecans, sycamores; many varieties of ornamental grasses; shrubs like dapple willows, sweet shrubs, forsythia, rose of sharon, magnolias, lilacs, oak hydrangeas, buddleia, wiegla; and don’t forget the apple trees, blueberry bushes, raspberries and elderberries that we’ve started.

To say the least, our soil is healthy and the perfect start to any sapling.

Yep, all four seasons are lovely with these beauties!

This is last day of summer and the Autumn Equinox is upon us with shorter days, cooler nights, and the hustle of fall harvest. Love the crisp smell of the season and the warm colorful palette!
