This month has been a month of reconsidering and restructuring. A few months ago, this post started out as an apology to all of my customers as I announced I would no longer be doing this cake thing. I tried to quit. And every time I tried, y’all gave me a reason not to. The gratitude I have for all of you throughout this journey the last couple of years is eternal. That “hanging it up” statement was typed out many times, edited, erased, and then repeated a week or 2 later. I sold off almost all of my dessert baking and decorating equipment and supplies, and that was in August. I stopped posting my work on social media. I stopped wanting to learn more. Mentally and emotionally, I had quit. But physically, I still had orders to fulfill. And I still kept taking more orders. Clearly, something in me wouldn’t let me quit just yet.
Reflecting over 2023, and especially 2024, I was able to pinpoint most of the areas I was failing tremendously in and where there was no profit being made at all. A lot of times and for a lot of orders, it was just money spent and none made. It was me making exceptions for those who couldn’t afford the original price they were quoted. It was me giving discounts to people I knew. It was me, believing in good faith, that even though I tried to implement the prepay when ordering requirement, that they would pay eventually. I understand, times are hard on everyone. It was orders that got made and then never got picked up, or it wasn’t the right size, or didn’t look just like the picture that AI created for you. And I spent hours, missed my kids ballgame, or didn’t make it to church because pick ups and deliveries were Sunday during church hours. I was tired. And that catches up. And the fun, low price monthly sales and holiday specials don’t get to happen. So I do apologize, because a lot of these shortcomings weren’t always on the customer, but on me for accepting what I’ve allowed the last two years.
I have decided to continue this thing. But for me to continue, I had to increase my prices, remove things from my menu, and will have to require full payment for any order at the time of ordering. Orders not paid in full atleast 2 weeks prior to the event will be considered cancelled (and I’ll let you know if it comes to that.) Orders places a week or less until the event will be charged an inconvenience fee (sorry if I know you personally, but you too). And all pick ups will be scheduled for the day before most likely. If delivery is necessary (ex: wedding cake or tiered cake set up) there will be an additional charge based on the rate per mile.
I do thank you all again for your patience and business, and hope to be able to continue serving you for the rest of 2025 ♥️
