Went to browse.
Came home with three Silkies: Biscuit, Gravy & Benedict. 🐔🤍

Honestly, I showed tremendous restraint... I'm a sucker for a deal.

Thankfully, they didn't have any other livestock… because my husband is only equipped to handle so much of my “just looking.” 😂

He really dodged a bullet... imagine if they'd had goats? 🐐

We had hoped Kevin (named after Disney's Up) was a hen... but, with each passing week, Kevin is looking more like a rooster.

Kevin is a scaredy cat.
Kevin is co-dependent on Sweet Pea, our Millie Fleur.
Kevin likes to lay in the grass.
Kevin snuggles and purrs.
Kevin is quickly becoming our biggest chicken.

The youngest and biggest 😳

So next time you drive past our property and you see a velociraptor in the yard... it's just Kevin.

Me: “I need to get ready for work.”

My husband: goes to the grocery store.

My husband 20 minutes later: returns to find me still outside with the chickens. 😂🐔

Apparently “I’ll be inside in a minute” means “let me just check on everyone, refill this, fix that, give them snacks, and have a full conversation with the chickens.”

The chickens may be responsible for my questionable time management…

And somehow, despite all evidence in this video, I still make it to work on time.

When we bought this house last winter, we knew we loved it... but we had no idea just how special this property truly was. 🤍

As the seasons have changed, it's slowly revealed its secrets to us. Mature black walnut, pecan, Chinese chestnut, pear, and maple trees—each one a reminder that this land has been growing long before we ever called it home.

Some evenings, I'll just stand in the yard and soak it all in. The towering trees, the park-like feel, the birds singing, the chickens wandering... it still doesn't seem real that we get to call this place ours.

Every day, I discover something new to appreciate, and every day I fall a little more in love with this little piece of earth.

Here's to growing roots, making memories, and stewarding this beautiful land for years to come. 🌳🏡💕

We're so grateful to be the next chapter in this land's story.
