Unfortunately, due to a medical mishap, we will not be at the Center Street Market this morning.

That said, we highly encourage everyone to stop by and support the wonderful vendors who will be there. This market is filled with amazing local businesses, farmers, and makers who work incredibly hard and would love your support.

If you're looking for recommendations, be sure to visit Blackdog Farms for the best sourdough around. It's the same bread we personally enjoy, as well as use as a base for many of our seasoning samples. While you're there, don't miss their delicious spiced nuts featuring our very own Eat Me blend.

As of right now, we are still planning to attend the Full Moon Markets this evening outside of Peerless Mill Inn & Brewery and will post any updates if that changes.

Thank you for understanding, and we hope to see you under the moon tonight! 🌙🦆

Below is our current blend list for the rest of May! 🌿🫖✨

If there’s a specific blend you’ve had your eye on, please message us the night before an event so we can make sure to whip up a fresh batch and set some aside before the ducks, goblins, and fellow tea fiends clear us out.

Looking for a special blend you don’t see listed? Send us a message! We’re always happy to see if we can brew, blend, or season up something custom just for you. 🦆🌙

As a reminder, EVERY BLEND purchased helps support the feeding, medicine, daily care, and general chaos-management of our sanctuary residents here at Drunken Duck Farm & Rescue. ❤️

Day 3… or maybe 4? At this point the rain has dissolved all concept of time. 🌧️🌧️🌧️

The Miami Valley has been absolutely belted with nonstop rain, saturated soil, mud slicks, and flooding. But after what can only be described as a full-contact mud wrestling tournament, we successfully relocated all the chickens out of their flooded coop and into a dry temporary setup with glorious drainage and significantly less “swamp goblin” energy. 🐔💦

Everyone is safe, the chickens are less muddy, and the humans are covered in mud & gunk. One more rainstorm to go.

Weekend Update from the Mud Pits & Feathered Chaos 🌧️🦃🐝

This weekend’s update is sponsored by rain, mud, more rain, and the general feeling that the entire Midwest briefly considered becoming a swamp. The Miami Valley got absolutely hammered with storms and flooding, but thankfully, for the most part, everyone here is safe and doing alright.

That said… the overnight rain turned parts of the farm into what can only be described as “free-range pudding,” so we had to temporarily close one of the chicken coops and the turkey coop due to the mud conditions.

The chickens are currently getting a new temporary setup thanks to the donation of a small wire coop, and the turkeys have decided they are now “garden consultants,” spending their days free-ranging through the garden and warming up in the greenhouse like tiny feathery retirees at a spa resort.

Unfortunately, all the moisture and mud have been rough on the birds. We’re currently treating three turkeys for bronchial infections, along with one strained wing thankfully not broken. Wet weather can be incredibly hard on fowl, so we’ve been keeping a very close eye on everyone.

In slightly less soggy news, we also prepped our new bee area and brought home TWO new nucs of bees! 🐝🌸 The pollinator army continues to grow.

The next few weeks are going to be wonderfully chaotic around here with upcoming markets and events, alpaca shearing (our first attempt got completely rained out), and an enormous amount of gardening ahead of us.

If all goes well, we’re hoping to start bringing fresh herbs, jams, and freshly dried herbs to markets very soon. The gardens are growing, the ducks are judging us, and despite the mud, the farm keeps moving forward. 🌿🦆

The next FIVE weeks are going to be wonderfully chaotic here at Drunken Duck Farm & Rescue with weekly markets, moonlit madness, BBQ smoke, bourbon themes, and enough tea and seasoning blends to make a spice rack question its life choices.

Like always, PLEASE check our Facebook and Instagram for any schedule or weather-related changes because farm life occasionally throws curveballs made entirely of mud, storms, and escaped poultry. 🌧️🐓

Rain is wonderful for gardens.
Rain is significantly less wonderful when your chickens start resembling tiny swamp cryptids.

With all the wet weather lately here in the Midwest, we wanted to talk about something many poultry owners overlook: muddy feathers can actually be a warning sign of much bigger health problems.

Whether you have chickens, ducks, geese, or other fowl, this is one of those wet-weather health checks that can genuinely save lives if caught early.

Unfortunately, due to some electrical issues in the barn where many of our rabbits are housed, along with a farm that currently resembles a swamp sponsored by chaos and mud, we’ve made the decision to stay home from today’s Hearts & Harvest Market at Factory 52.

As always, sanctuary first. 🐇💚

While we’re incredibly sad to miss everyone today, we highly recommend heading down and supporting the amazing vendors who will be there. There’s a fantastic group of local makers, growers, bakers, artists, and small businesses, and they all deserve some love.

And make sure to stop by the Gatherall booth to check out their samples… or at the very least say hi.

Thank you all so much for understanding while we handle things here at the farm. We’d rather disappoint a market day than disappoint the rabbits by letting their lights and safety become questionable. 🐰⚡

When we say our blends are homegrown… we mean *homegrown*. 🌹🦆🌿

The roses found in many of our teas, barside blends, and even seasonings like *Run for the Rose* come directly from the collection of domesticated and wild roses growing right here on the farm. We also harvest the rosehips, especially from the wild roses, which are absolutely packed with natural vitamin C.

Our roses are NEVER treated with pesticides or anything that could harm our sanctuary residents, local wildlife, wild crawfish, pollinators, or our bees. If it isn’t safe for the ecosystem here, it doesn’t belong in our gardens.

So how do we get such beautiful blooms?

Honestly? Tiny armies and a lot of p**p. 🌹💩✨

We fertilize naturally using composted farm manure, mostly rabbit and alpaca with a little chicken contribution for extra enthusiasm. For pest control, we use ladybugs, green lacewings, and organic beneficial nematodes. Not only do they help control aphids, they also help reduce fleas and ticks around the property.

So the next time you sip or season something with rose in it, ask yourself:
Where did those roses come from?
And what was used to grow them?

Cincinnati, we’re heading your way TODAY! 🦆🌿✨

We’ll be set up at the Hearts & Harvest Farmers Market down at Factory 52 in Norwood with a tent full of fresh chaos and good flavors.

We’ll be bringing:
🌿 New blends making their market debut
🍵 Tea samples for sipping and sniffing
🥚 Limited amounts of farm-fresh duck and chicken eggs
✨ Plenty of questionable puns at no additional charge

Come wander the market, say hello, grab a blend or two, and make an evening of it. Grab dinner at Gatherall, enjoy a drink from the breweries and bars, and support a whole flock of local small businesses while you’re at it.

We can’t wait to see everyone down there! 🖤
