I know it's been awhile since I last posted. Holidays came fast and I was working on a lot of sewing projects - what I do in the off season. Then on Christmas morning, I woke up with what I would later find out was a bad case of iritis. Y'all, I didn't know if it was pink eye (as I've never had it - even at almost 40! Lol) or just an irritation. Went to my dr and by the following Monday day I was at the eye dr. By then, I couldn't really see out of my left eye. I am so thankful for the eye dr though. She knew right away what it was and we started treating it aggressively. Let me tell you, it was intense. Eye drops every hour for the first few days. Now its 3 1/2 weeks later, and I can almost see as good as before. I still have blind/fuzzy spots, but they are getting better.
Seed catalogs have arrived and I will be going through and figuring out what we are gonna grow this year. Sure hope our spring isnt as wacky as last year! I'd love to get plants and seeds in the ground before June this time! 😅

Well the season has come to an end, but that means time to dream for next year's garden!

My apologies to everyone for not keeping in touch. This summer got away from me! I've had to jump in and help on another farm for harvest/fall planting. Everything I've done has been new this year. Running combine and ground prep for planting. I've included a couple pictures of some of what I've been running. I have managed to get some canning done, however not nearly as much as i had hoped. But life is good and we just keep plugging along!

See the little guy on the right? Well his big buddy on the left was smaller than him just 24 hours before! At this rate, we probably wont be behind for harvest!

Got first part of the garden planted today... still have to do all the direct seed planting (beans, peas, and corn) and waiting for some starts in the greenhouse to get a bit bigger, then they will be planted too. Today we planted the following:
21 cherry type tomatoes
9 sauce tomatoes
23 slicer tomatoes
10 tomatillo
26 sweet peppers
31 hot peppers
4 rows onions (red and sweet white)
35 brassicas (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage)
6 celery

Had a special visitor to the farm this morning... A beautiful spike blacktail deer. Have been here 1 1/2 years, and never seen a deer on the farm. Hope he leaves the garden alone LOL

Wow, it's been crazy around here. First the weather wasn't cooperating, then it was track season for the kiddo. So, while we've gotten a late start at things, we are getting moving! And if you look closely in the second picture, you can see the pollen flying from the grass. That means harvest isn't too far off. Wonder if I'll get a chance to hop in a tractor to help this year...

We've been quiet lately. Got caught up with middle school track. It's finally over and we got in the greenhouse and did some planting! Our season will probably be a little later, but we are still planning for a great year! Will be paying pictures over the next couple days.
