I’ve been meaning to make an appreciation post for a WHILE and I’ve fallen short. Here on the farm, when we moved in we knew it would be lots of work. Nearly 17 acres of woods with a dream to nearly clear it all! Well, with finances tight I began to tackle it with the help here and there of my husband and my best friend (appreciation for them too). I cut away a small parking area and burned all the trees. Countless hours in there. Maybe days. I started at the back, selectively cutting trees, dragging them out and burning them (husband and best friends job). Maybe WEEKS total spent and MAYBE achieved a 75x150 foot area with STILL plans to stump grind said area when we had enough to do to rent one. Well, by chance, in trying to sell or trade our timber a kind man reached out with another offer if we couldn’t sell or trade it (the markets awful). I waited and I spoke with DOZENS of timber companies and loggers. Weeks I spent on the phone HOPING for something. Countless people looked at my land and walked away saying it was worthless or there wasn’t enough of it! So, one day I called that kind man back H.T. Downs with Downs Land & Wildlife Solutions, LLC and he was VERY prompt to take my call, very kind and VERY fair with his pricing! He didn’t wait and he got his talented guy Tell Horne out here to get to work! With a total of THREE days we got our parking area cleared of stumps, the stumps removed from the back area I had started and nearly a total of THREE acres cleared and graded!!! Tell worked fast, was very professional, communicative and did quality work with attention to detail and H.T. ALWAYS checked in on the work done and my happiness with it! I can’t stress enough how grateful we are! H.T. has a customer for life with us (or at least until we do all 17 acres 🤣) so if any of my friends out there need land cleared and graded reach out to him! They’re the best! Below are lots of sort of before pictures of when I was cutting trees and at the very end are just a few of their beautiful work! It’s been a long rough road but it sure was nice to have help to get our horses in somewhere quicker! Thanks guys!

Goose’s uncertain journey ❤️

Figured I’d post Mr. Goose and his progress! My clients bough him at auction early December 2025. (His previous owners were riding kids around on him like this!!! 😮😮😮). The first few photos of him are what said client sent me, along with some videos, asking if I thought I could fix him. I said multiple times “there are NO guarantees” and “it may be a last act of kindness case”. They took the risk and boy we are glad they did! Mr. Goose was walking ON his dorsal hoof wall when they purchased him (in layman’s terms he was walking knuckled under)! His coronary band was ON THE GROUND!!! 🤯🤯🤯 Likely his tendons were/are contracted (more so on the left than the right) and there was no telling if he could be saved. 😔 I’m happy to report that with regular 6 week trims (we debated on 4 weeks but decided to continue 6 weeks) since December, that his heels are OFFICIALLY on the ground!!! 🤯🥹❤️ Corrected simply with trimming and gradually stretching that tendon out! Is the trim or feet 100% perfect yet? No, but we are at a place we didn’t know for certain was achievable! ZERO modifications were applied to his feet, simply barefoot trims (we tried to glue on lateral toe extensions I made but he wouldn’t let us EVERY time 😅). As of July 2026, he is now on the path to further addressing the distortion in his walls and encouraging a healthy foot to grow from here on out ❤️ Pictures of him in fly boots were current with his last trim in July! ❤️ Again, the trims not perfect, the grounds not level and we are having to be pretty aggressive on the trim to get ahead of the MAJOR distortion, but this is MILES from where we thought we’d be! And ONLY (I believe) SIX TRIMS under his belt!!!! Do you feel hopeless with your equine??? 🐴 CALL/TEXT me! I’m here to TRY (which is all we can do) ❤️ BIG shoutout to my clients Jessica and Steve for saving all these wonderful souls and being the PROPER kind of owners these equines need! ❤️ Without them, this boy would surely be dead! There’s NO reason your equine should get to this point without veterinary and farrier intervention! PLEASE, if your horse/donkey/mini looks like this: give me a shout!

We don’t just trim horses and donkeys here at Twisted 3. We also do goats 🐐 and the occasional pig 🐷!!! Look at that glow up! Pm me to get your babies on the schedule! ❤️👌🏻

Put a first trim on a young 6 year old papered mustang today for a friend and trainer Alexis Christensen! This beautiful boy is coming along nicely thanks to her patient yet firm hands! He’s 13.3-14 hands and gaits super smooth! This is only THREE WEEKS into handling yall! He did VERY well given the circumstances, arguably better than some of my older seasoned client horses! Just needs a patient farrier to continue working with him (no quick to anger or physical corrections will work with this boy. He responds well with calm yet assertive handlers). Imagine what 3 more weeks will do for him ❤️ He’s tentatively 👀 4 a new 🏠! If interested in a well started project and more info I’ll get you in touch!
Add: I opted to do baby steps as we didn’t know how he would do. I left my chaps off for less noise, flapping, catch points, etc and I stayed out and loose to give myself an out if needed. Needless to say the precautions weren’t needed! What a GOOD pretty boy!

It needs to be said more. Stop assuming, stop making excuses. WORK through the problem.

✋🏼 Stop Putting Labels On Your Horse 🛑

This horse was abused. This horse has trauma. This horse was a rescue.

It doesn’t matter. It really doesn’t.

When we put these labels on horses we treat them differently, we can’t help it. We restrict what we need to do to help them because we want to tip toe around their “story”.

They have lived. Life is stress. Life can be traumatic. It doesn’t need to continue to be their story. It doesn’t need to define them (OR US)!

Work with the horse you have today, in front of you, with those worried triangle eyes, reluctance to look at you, terrified of the saddle or ropes, the one who suddenly kicks out when surprised. Wait…

That sounds like a fresh wild mustang who hasn’t been abused because he hasn’t even been touched yet.

Here’s the thing. You cannot know a horses’s story unless you lived it with them. You are just guessing based on behavior and that behavior very well could just be how that horse has always reacted to things. You are ASSuming, and we all know that saying. I have known horses since birth that you would think got beat everyday with how they are reactive to certain things. It was just who they are.

Stop assigning labels. Just work with the horse in front of you. Assigning labels gives you permission to not do what needs to be done. It gives you an excuse for your lack of progression or your own personal fears. It gives you an out when things get tough and you need to learn a new approach or change what obviously isn’t working. It LIMITS you which in turn limits how you can help that horse.

There is absolutely nothing you can do about a horse’s past. You can only influence the now. Focus on the now. Leave the labels, and the reason you are clinging to them, behind.

Your horse will thank you.

I despise giving warnings for something I find so normal but WARNING ⚠️ CASTRATION PHOTOS BELOW! ⚠️

Today was a GREAT day here at the farm! What started as a case of cryptorchidism with our donka donk, Indy, THANKFULLY recently changed to BOTH testies being descended!!! Little guy was only roughly the size of my big toe where as the big guy (fully developed one that WASNT stuck) was about the size of a heart! What was almost a $1500-$2000 surgery at a proper equine hospital turned into a mere $300 and some laughs in my front yard! Big thanks to our local veterinarian, AND to Indy for throwing enough fits of kicking and rolling to FORCE the other testie into making an appearance and saving my wallet! Cheers to two balls being better than one! (Ok I’m done with the jokes I swear!) 🥂
