The snow and deep cold brought stillness to the farm. We tromped around the boundaries, noted fall tasks still not completed. Stepped alongside coyote and deer and rabbit tracks. The herbs without their row covers but covered with snow, insulated, for weeks on end. The muted color palatte of winter, bare black branches bending and clattering in the wind. Next week we’ll start seeds, but for now, a little more winter work, as the days inch longer and brighter, the snow thins on the ground.
