It’s basically a sport in our religious culture to guess where a missionary will be called to serve.

For a while, Nolan was convinced he was headed to Africa. Then he started eyeing places like Sweden or Switzerland—you know… cows, gardens, ancestral homelands… it all felt very fitting.

As the days dragged on and we waited for the text, he had one consistent request:
“Anywhere but Nevada, Utah, or California.”

Last Sunday at church, a friend laughed and said, “Careful what you say—my nephew from Gilbert got called to the New Mexico Farmington Mission… it covers a lot of Utah and Arizona.”

We all laughed. Because obviously that would be too ironic, right?

Fast forward to Tuesday afternoon—Nolan comes in from working in the yard and gets all of us gathered. The text had finally come.

He starts reading… and I’m waiting for the twist. Then he keeps reading. And keeps reading.

And I’m thinking, “Okay, he’s definitely joking…”

He was not joking.

New Mexico Farmington Mission!

We immediately pulled up the mission map…
Utah. Arizona. New Mexico. Colorado.
Basically everything he said he didn’t want… neatly packaged into one mission. 😂

I’ll be honest—I was a little confused for a minute. But there was no time to overthink it. We had a yard to clean, treats to bake, and people to invite for the big reveal.

Something interesting happened that night— Everyone we talked to said the same thing:

“This is perfect for Nolan.”

Apparently this mission includes:
✔️ Dirt roads
✔️ Driving trucks 🛻
✔️ Chopping wood 🪓
✔️ Cowboy boots (with suits, obviously)
✔️ Potential Navajo, Hopi, and Spanish languages to learn
✔️ Animals & farms 🐴
✔️ Plenty of opportunities to roll up his sleeves and do some hands on service

So basically… everything he secretly loves & wanted but didn’t know how to request. He didn’t get the mission he asked for… He got the one that fits him perfectly. God knows us best! 🤍

We are honestly still kinda in shock but can’t wait to cheer him on!

I’ve been keeping a little secret… a 13-hands-high one!
Meet Freckles 🐴
He joined our farm just before Christmas and has been a total gem—and Abner’s new best buddy. Taller than Abner and the perfect next step for the kids (and some grown-ups) to ride!

Merry Christmas! 🎄 Wishing you a day filled with love, light, and all the joy this beautiful season brings.

The garden doesn’t take a break just because it’s 110° outside. ☀️Striped Armenian cucumbers are my secret to keeping things going during the hottest months! 🥒 They grow fast and need daily attention, which means I’m up early each morning checking vines, training them on the trellis, and harvesting before the heat sets in.

It’s a rhythm that keeps me connected to my garden all summer long—plus, the reward is crisp, refreshing cucumbers that taste like sunshine in every bite.

We’re selling these organically grown beauties for $3 each. Message me to snag some while they’re fresh! 💚

This morning called for a pick-me-up! I scanned my fridge and asked, "What's my body craving?" Beets, avocados, and eggs stood out, paired with a hint of homemade peach jam from last summer - made with my mom's special recipe. Flavors have a way of bringing back memories & reminding us that we’re loved! 🍑🍑

Counting my blessings for our garden, animals, and wholesome food. And for my little ones and the love they share! 💗💗

Here's what I'm using to nourish my body today:
• Raw A2A2 butter 🐮
• Sourdough bread
• Fresh garden tomatoes
• Avocado
• Eggs 🐓🐓🐓
• Berries from UT & OR

• Beets (Costco)

What's fueling your body today?

Happy Easter! 🌷🐣💗

“Peace is found in faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. When He suffered for our sins and weaknesses, died on the cross, and rose again, the Savior rewrote humanity’s story. Because of Him, we do not have to deal with our frailties, sins, and fears alone. Because of Him, death is not the end. Resurrection will come to all who have ever lived. Because of Him, families can be together forever. Because of Jesus Christ, we celebrate Easter. And Easter is all about peace and hope.” Russell M. Nelson
