The newest edition to the Commercial District in Gilbertsville is Patina House, and this shoppe is a real charmer!

The curated antiques and collectibles are so beautiful and interesting. The store is huge, but the colllection is manageable. There truly is something for everyone there.

The Old Stone House Emporium is so welcoming.

Tracie Owen Martinetti is curating the antiques and collectibles, along with local crafters, honey and maple syrup producers and so much more.

Tracie is full of hospitality. She offered Chef Emily and other customers on July 4th sparkling French-style lemonade in china tea cups.

"So tasty and refreshing," said Chef Emily, who enjoyed the cool drink on such a hot day.

Kathleen Banta founded this marvelous business. Many of her wonderful items are in the shoppe this Summer, as well, including the converted oil latern turned lamp, which Chef Emily was really glad to get.

"I snagged three lamps -- 1 single and a pair -- and all were reasonably priced. I always have found great stuff there, and Tracie is re-organizing the store to draw one's eye toward the myriad of treasures, grouping them and making them easier to imagine how they might fit into your own life with your existing stuff," said Chef Emily.

"I already have so many dishes and nic-naks, but lamps -- well, I can always use them either in my own home or for events I sometimes organize to do soft lighting. The Emporium has some really lovely things," Chef Emily said, smiling.

The Old Stone House Emporium will be open throughout the Summer and into the Fall. Check their FB page for details and hours of operation.

The Bakehouse was jammed with people yesterday for the 4th, and they will be open again today.

Chef Emily had been into the Bakehouse almost every day last week. The selections vary, but they are all superb.

It’s recommended that you go early as once they run out of whatever treat you might have your eye on, that’s it until the next day.

Chef Emily likes the croissants and the chocolate croissants especially there.

Chef Emily put it on some delicious Peasant Bread and served it with Cole Slaw, Potato Salad (obscured by the placement of the sandwich) and Sundries on a No-Cooking Day — July 4th!
