Today we finally found the perfect place for this special painting.

Our dear friend painted this beautiful picture of Taffy, and for quite some time, we’ve been wondering where it belonged in our new home.

Taffy spent her entire life in John’s family, growing up on the historic Chew Ranch in Utah before coming to live with us in her later years. She came to be with us to retire— to enjoy green grass, sunshine, and the easy life she had earned. We loved her so dearly.

Losing her during our home displacement last year was one of the hardest parts of that season. The stress and constant moves took a toll on her, and we ultimately lost her far sooner than we expected. But one gift in the middle of all that hardship was that in her last moments of life she just happened to be with us. We were able to care for her, love her, and be by her side until the very end.

Today we hung her portrait on the outside of our tack room, where she can be with all the other horses again—including lil Velvet, her faithful little mini companion who missed her terribly when she was gone. 😭

From her place on the barn, she looks east across the pasture toward the ridge that inspired the name Covenant Ridge.

It feels right. 💗🐴

A sweet reminder that some horses never really leave us. They remain woven into the places we love, the stories we tell, and the lives they helped shape.

Thank you, dear friend, Cierra Gonzalez, for giving us such a beautiful way to remember her. ❤️🐴

We miss you, Taffy. Always. ❤️
