Approaching mid-June here on our little farm 🌺 👨‍🌾

Summer vacation has begun, flowers are blooming, onions are heading up, garlic scapes are picked, potatoes are mulched, first zucchinis are coming off, tomatoes are trellised and we’ve got lettuce coming out of our ears.

We have been quiet on this side of things. Be sure that we have been here working through. A little background on how Mr. Brett Owen has been involved in the Growen development over the years. Some days won’t ever feel quite the same I’m pretty sure without his pop ins. But we have used a lot of his lines lately to continue on this dream even on the toughest of days. Some of his lines more appropriate than others 🫣. We continue to be so grateful to have had our time with him. We know he is rooting us on. Thank you to this community who has continued to support the whole Owen family during these times ❤️ ….. L.O.

“Lead a life of your own design”

Just want to take a moment to thank everybody for their patience and understanding as our family navigates a very tough time.

We will be closed this Friday May 29 as we celebrate the life of the best man we knew —the man who showed us to live life by design and then held us accountable to that every step of the way.

Growen Food would not be here today if it wasn’t for the influence of Brett J. Owen. I’ll leave it there for now

I used to always hear, wait for a wet rainy day to pull weeds from your gardens. Maybe that’s true if they’re deep-rooted and mature, but I just try not letting them grow that far. I’ve found that works best under the dry sun like we have today. A couple of my favorite and a quick pass up and down each bed on a regular basis helps keep a lot of the stubborn weeds from ever getting established. It also causes less interference with the crop by not having to pull things up by the roots. Cut them off and leave them lay to decompose under the sun, a healthy soil biome will have them cleaned up in no time. Takes a little practice but it’s effective —
