New project coming up soon. Going to make a multi purpose trailer by building this into a slide in insert for livestock. This allows us to still remove it for hauling the tractor and picking up material.

THE CORRECT HEAD (mooi kop):

One should look to breed goats that have a strong head with large soft brown eyes and without an untamed nor wild look. Select your bucks with good, strong heads. A sturdy, slightly curved nose, wide nostrils, strong well-formed mouth with well-fitted jaws.

The forehead must be prominently curved linking up with the curve of nose and horns. Your goats should have a very aesthetic appeal to their apprearence.

Horns should be strong, of good length and placed moderately apart with a gradual backward curve. Horns have to be as round and solid as possible and in dark colour. Ears are to be broad, smooth and of medium length hanging downwards from the head. Ears that are too short are undesirable.

A concave forehead, horns too straight or too flat, pointed jaw, ears folded (lengthwise), stiff protruding ears, ears too short, over or undershot jaw and blue eyes are all charatirictic cull defects on the goat.

The picture below (credit: Lukas Burger) of a Boer Goat Buck perfectly illustrate a very correct head with the said desirable traits that farmers should look to breed towards and select for in their goat enterprise.
