It was built as a barn in the early 1800's on the Pfizer Farm, which at the time emcompased all of what is now Farm Cottage Rd, Pfizer Dr, Bryanwood Ct. & much more. Gladstone was famed for its fox hunts, so much so the Far Hills Races reinact it every year. In the house you can see an old photograph of the barn with several dozen hounds gathered by the stone wall (that still exists) preparing for the big event.
