It’s Spring wine release time at Wine Snob*, and we have two new wines bursting with flavor that we can’t wait to share with you! Our 2025 SerendipitĂ©, made from Chardonnay clone 809 (otherwise known as Chardonnay MusquĂ©) grown in a one-acre Sonoma Valley vineyard and stainless-steel fermented, is highly aromatic and flavorful, with notes of white peach, apricot, and jasmine. And our much-loved RhĂŽsé is back! Tasting of watermelon, strawberry, grapefruit, and a hint of rose, this rosé of Syrah from a Sonoma Valley vineyard is perfect for the warm months ahead. Both are now available at the tasting room. Hope to see you soon! Cheers!

Field trip! We’re getting ready to plant some more vines later this Spring, and we visited the nursery where they’re getting their start. In the late 1800’s, a microscopic insect called phylloxera, which feeds on grapevine roots, destroyed most vineyards in Europe. American vine species are resistant to the little pest, and researchers discovered it could be avoided by grafting the phylloxera-susceptible European grape varieties that we know and ❀ onto the phylloxera-resistant American rootstock. That can be done in the field (“field grafting”) or in a nursery (“bench grafting”). In the nursery, a hand-operated machine is used to simultaneously make a jig-saw cut in the rootstock and the budwood so that they fit seamlessly together and form a new plant. Scroll through to see some young vines and a quick video showing the precise cut and fit of a bench graft. Cheers!

Bottling week! We have some fun new Wine Snob* wines heading your way! The first is our 2025 SerendipitĂ©, made from Chardonnay clone 809, otherwise known as Chardonnay MusquĂ©. Every grape type has natural mutations of itself that can be propagated as clones that vary in terms of acidity, sugar level, skin density, yield, and ripening time. While there are dozens of Chardonnay clones, most of them are neutral variations, with subtle differences. Clone 809, however, is a variation that shows characteristics of the Muscat grape—it's highly aromatic, tending toward aromas of white peach and jasmine—while retaining a crisp, food-friendly acidity that we showcase by using stainless-steel fermentation and no oak. We can’t wait to share SerendipitĂ© with you in our Spring release! In the meantime, swipe through for a little glimpse at bottling day. Cheers!

We're celebrating this lovely autumn weather with a visit to the CarmĂ©nĂšre vines we harvested a few weeks ago so we can show you their fiery fall foliage.🍁"CarmĂ©nĂšre" is derived from the French word “carmin,” which means crimson, and that's in part due to how bright red the leaves turn in autumn. With flavors of raspberry, peppercorn, and granite, this medium-bodied wine makes a great pairing with anything from stuffed peppers to pork chops.đŸ·Featured now on our current fall tasting menu at Wine Snob*. Cheers!
