2026 harvest is a wrap! 🍇

We began on August 24th with Carneros Chardonnay and finished with our Estate Cabernet Sauvignon earlier this month. A look back at the season:

🌱 High winds, a cool spell after early budbreak and an unusually warm early spring led to lighter yields.

☀️ Steady temperatures through the end of September, followed by a prolonged heat spell, brought the vintage to a successful finish.

🍷Although this was a lighter-yielding year, the quality has been exceptional, and we anticipate several standout w**es.

Some labels are made with a brush. This one was made with a view (and maybe a brush or two).

Artist Melissa Meyer painted the label for our 2022 Oso Loco, drawing inspiration from the landscapes she experienced during a residency at Bau Institute in Cassis, France. Using watercolor, she captured the region's vivid colors and beauty. "One of the properties of watercolor is that we do not use white paint, only the white of the paper, which can result in vivid color saturation," she explains. A vertical and horizontal grid gives the composition its structure, weaving the Parthenon into the design in a harmonious way.

Every harvest season, our W**emaker Jamie Benziger and Art Curator Kara de Lambert come together for our annual Art Selection Day.
 
Reviewing photographs of newly created artwork, they begin the process of pairing each piece with a future w**e release. Some matches are immediate. Others evolve through conversation, with Jamie and Kara trading observations and interpretations until a connection between the artwork and w**e comes into focus.
