Well we aren’t really sure where August went, but somewhere in between weaning calves, checking pastures, making hay and straw, and two determined guys willing to fix a hay Tedder that almost went to the salvage yard 🤣, we made it to the fairs and helped out some customers with their heifers. A busy month, but August has been good to us!

Oats are combined, and although we got some much needed rain the last couple days, we are waiting for it to dry out to bale the straw hopefully this week. Thanks to Randy, Matt and the crew for helping us get the job done!

What a great week at the fairs!

Congratulations to Wyatt Emler on earning Supreme Overall Champion Heifer at the Blakes Prairie Fair with a heifer he purchased in our Annual Production Sale this past March.

It was also exciting to help my niece, Maroska, at her first county fair. She had a fantastic week, earning Champion Simmental Heifer and Champion Goat, and had her steer looking great! We’re so proud of her!

Best of luck to everyone heading to the remaining fairs this summer!

We’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with so many hardworking, respectful young people who are passionate about livestock and agriculture. Watching these kids grow, learn, and succeed gives us a lot of confidence that the future of our industry is in good hands.

This last week, we were proud to provide a class of Angus heifers for 4-H kids to evaluate during Area Animal Science Days.

And it’s never too early to start. Harper is already learning how to load the CIDRs and set up heifers to breed.

The future of agriculture looks bright, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping the next generation grow. 🌱

May is already off to a great start here at 2K Cattle — and it’s Beef Month, which means we get even more opportunities to promote the product we’re passionate about all month long!

We’re slowly but surely getting cows turned out to grass, and one of the highlights of spring every year is hosting the Southwest Tech livestock proficiency students for a tour of the farm, The Meat Schoppe, and Madison Street Steakhouse & Grill in Lancaster. We truly enjoy showing them how every part of the process works together, getting to know the students, answering their questions, and helping however we can.

It’s always a great time visiting with these young people and hearing about what’s next for them — especially knowing many of them will continue on in the agricultural industry. Another great group of students this year!

A big thank you to Christina for helping organize the tour and giving these students such a valuable opportunity. We appreciate all the work that goes into making days like this happen!

Join us on Sunday, May 24 for the Annual Southwestern Wisconsin Angus Classic. There will be classes for Angus Bulls, Cow/Calf Pairs, Heifers, and Steers as well as a predominantly black Commercial Heifer and Crossbred Steer Show.

***NEW THIS YEAR! Option to participate in a PGS Bull or Heifer Class. Animals are judged on both genotype and phenotype, each weighted 50% in the final score.

▪️Entry Fees: $30 if received by 5/17; $50 if late.
▪️Location: Grant County Fairgrounds, 916 East Elm Street, Lancaster, Wisconsin
▪️Out-of-State exhibitors are required to have health papers.
▪️Cattle are able to arrive on Saturday, May 23 after 10 AM. All cattle must be checked in by Sunday, May 24 at 8 AM. The show will be held on Sunday, May 24 with the show starting at 9 AM.
▪️ Exhibitor eligibility: Open to anyone wishing to participate.
