Happy International Women’s Day to the Lakeview ladies! These women are the lifeblood of our operation and play a huge part in every single deer we process. From the tarp you drop your deer on, to skinning, labeling, washing, testing, cutting, grinding, packaging, making jerky and summer sausage, and all of the jobs behind the scenes, MANY of the deer are processed by women from start to finish. They endure freezing cold temps, stinky gut-shot deer, heavy lifting, cuts and bruises, swollen and arthritic fingers, impossible orders, mountains of dishes, long hours, limited sleep, and condescending remarks, but they are the best at what they do and they get it done! Thank you all so much! Slay, queens!

Regarding the shop, the Glen area still has no power or water, but the drop-off cooler (freezer?) is still open and we’ll get to the deer as soon as we can. Please make sure they are field dressed before dropping them off. Thank you!

Remember, proper meat care starts when you pull the trigger. It’s the hunter’s responsibility to get the deer to a processor in a timely manner to avoid spoilage. Showing off a non field-dressed buck for 8 hours before dropping it off is irresponsible.

Ballistic Tips: We had this buck brought in with an old injury from a ballistic tip where the bullet fragmented upon hitting the shoulder but never reached the vitals. We know bullet preference is a hot topic these days, but personally I’ve stayed away from ballistic tips for years now since losing a good buck. They also destroy a lot of meat when they hit bone and fragment.
